"What are we celebrating?" Xander asked, shouting to be heard over the deafening roar of the music.

"Mom letting me out on a week night," Buffy answered beaming.

"Any reason to party sounds good to me," Xander said.

"Anyone want another coke?" Willow asked as she stood up from the table. A round of no-thank-you’s echoed after her as she headed towards the bar.

"Coke please," she shouted at the bartender. As he went to refill her glass, she looked over at the table. She’d known for a while now that Buffy loved Angel, but watching them together still took her breath away. She watched the way Buffy subconsciously leaned into him, not to talk to him, but just to touch him. Almost as if she thought he would disappear in her dream if she weren’t touching him. She wondered if she would ever feel that way about anyone.

She jumped as the bartender shouted at her to take her drink. As she walked back to the table, lost in thoughts of love she had yet to experience, she bumped into something.

Something didn’t sum it up. He stood in front of her, cleaning his spilt beer off the front of his shirt. "Sorry," she squeaked out as she drank him in with her eyes. He was slightly taller than she was, and was amazingly gorgeous. His sandy blond hair fell over his forehead drawing her attention to his eyes. They were the most startling blue she had ever seen.

"No harm," he said with a tone of laughter. "I shoulda’ seen you coming." His eyes gazed appreciatively over her body. "Name’s Riley."

"Willow," she answered amazed that this perfect male specimen would even been speaking to her. Let alone speaking to her after she spilled his drink. "I’d offer to buy you another for the one I spilled, but I don’t think they’d let me," she teased.

"Probably not," he laughed. "I’ll take a dance as payment though."

"Sure, just let me put my drink down." She headed for the table, with Riley on her heels. "I’m gonna’ go dance," she said to the group at the table. Making eye contact with Buffy, she mouthed Oh my god.

"Mind if I leave my drink here?" Riley asked politely as he led Willow to the dance floor.

As they left the table, Buffy said, "Who was that?" her appreciation of his appearance sounding in her voice.

A small growl came from Angel as he answered, "Don’t know." He put an arm around Buffy’s shoulders and pulled her towards himself.

Buffy laughed as she realized Angel was jealous of her appreciation. "I think he’s just what Willow needs. A good strong man to help her out." Plus, it just might make Xander jealous, she added to herself.

As the song ended, the couple headed back towards to table, flushed from dancing. Willow had obviously invited him to hang out with them, as he took a seat at their table.

"Riley, this is…well...everyone, everyone, this is Riley," Willow said keeping the introductions short.

"So, Riley, do you go to Sunnydale High?" Xander asked leaning over the table to hear his answer over the music.

"No, I go to the college. I’m a sophomore there," Riley answered very aware that he was on the spot.

"A college guy, huh?" Buffy asked staring directly at Willow. Angel tightened the grip on her shoulders, pulling her closer still. While she was aware of Angel’s jealous feelings, she was Willow’s best friend. So she continued to do her best to interview this new guy. "Where are you from?"

"Iowa, actually," he said with a smile, as he took a sip of his beer. "Do you guys all go to Sunnydale High?" he asked as he looked at Angel.

"Most of us. We’re juniors," Willow answered proudly.

Angel stood up suddenly. "I’ll…uh…be right back," he said cryptically as he stalked away from the table towards the exit.

"OK, that was weird," Xander said sounding puzzled. "Even for D….Angel," quickly realizing that ‘Dead boy’ would be a little hard to explain.

"Did I say something wrong?" Riley asked, looking at Willow.

"No, he just…well…he does that," Willow answered not knowing how to answer him without giving away Angel’s status in life, or non-life if you prefer.

"I better go after him," Buffy said faking an exasperated sound. She had seen Angel head for the exit, and knew something was up. "Good night everyone. Nice to meet you Riley," she said as she gathered her jacket and headed for the door. A trail of goodnights followed her.

Buffy stepped into the alley, and could hear Angel talking up ahead, but couldn’t understand him. As she got closer she realized he was talking to another vampire further down the alley. The way they were standing there reminded her out of something from the Old West. So much in fact that she was half expecting to hear the corny gunfight music start any minute now. She moved closer to see if she could hear them.

"Leave her alone," she heard Angel said almost growling.

"She has killed the Master. She deserves to be punished," the other vampire answered.

"Look, if you’re going to talk about me, can I at least be involved in the conversation?" Buffy asked as she stepped up beside Angel. "Besides, I gotta’ warn you that I don’t take punishment very well."

The other vampire charged her, but she was ready for him. She easily sidestepped him and as he passed, she shot her leg up and out, kicking him in the back of the head. He quickly turned around to face her, game face intact.

"I underestimated you Slayer," he hissed at her. "I will not make that mistake next time." With that he turned and ran.

"OK, with a statement like that, I normally expect fighting, not running and fleeing," Buffy said completely confused as to what just happened.

"He’ll be back," Angel said sighing. "He wants to punish you for killing the Master."

"Yeah, I got that earlier." Buffy said. "Vamp with a motive. That’s original."

"Motive and strength to back it up."

"Why does it sound like you’ve fought him before?" Buffy said looking up at Angel.

"I have. His name is Damian. I met him about 150 years ago."

"So, you guys are old, old friends then?" Buffy teased.

"Hardly. We better get you home." Angel said trying to change the subject. His laced his hand through hers, and they headed out of the alley.

**********

All the lights were off when Angel and Buffy walked up the driveway. "Either she’s working late at the gallery, or I’m home late enough to be in big trouble," Buffy said.

"No one’s here," Angel answered, as Buffy unlocked the door and led him inside.

As soon as the door closed behind them, Angel wrapped his arms around Buffy’s waist and pulled her into a deep passionate kiss. When he finally let her up for air, he whispered, "…unless you wanted to watch TV or something…"

Buffy grinned against him, "Nah. This is better than any show I can think of." She pulled his head down into another passionate embrace.

Hoping he wasn’t moving too fast, he slowly slid his hand up her side. He let it rest just beneath her breast as he waited for her to say no. Instead she deepened the kiss, giving him the answer he had hoped for. His hand slowly continued its journey and he began to cup her breast through her shirt.

Just then, the sound of a car door resounded from the driveway. "Mom’s home," Buffy said quickly breaking the embrace and moving away from him.

"Damn," Angel complained and was rewarded with a sly grin from Buffy.

"My thoughts exactly," Buffy coyly answered as the front door began to open.

"Hi honey," Joyce said sounding puzzled. "Why are you standing here at the door?"

"Because I was just saying goodbye to Angel," Buffy answered pointing out that Angel was behind the door.

"Mrs. Summers," Angel said politely nodding to her.

"Hi," she smiled in response. Turning back to Buffy she said, "I had the most amazing day. I actually sold the Rembrandt."

"That’s great Mom," Buffy said, stepping forward and giving her mom a congratulatory hug.

Joyce’s body suddenly stiffened in the middle of the hug and quickly pulled the hard object she had felt from Buffy’s waistband. She looked accusingly at Buffy, "What is this?"

Buffy stood there staring at Mr. Pointy and didn’t know what to say. She took a deep breath and lied, "It’s a project for school."

"A history project," Angel quickly piped up.

"A history project about a pointed stick? I don’t think so, try again," Joyce said glaring at Buffy.

Angel rushed to Buffy’s aid again, "They have to come up with a list of ways in which an object from colonial times can be used. Buffy’s object is this."

Buffy breathed a sigh of relief as she filled in the rest of the story, "That’s why Angel was here. He was helping me."

Joyce turned to Angel, "I’m sorry. It just seems like…well Buffy’s being more of a teenager these days. Thank you for helping her."

Angel locked eyes with Buffy, who behind Joyce’s back was mouthing Thank yous, "You’re welcome." Stifling a laugh, he added, "Why don’t we meet at the school library tomorrow night and see how many more ideas we can come up with?"

"Sounds great. See you tomorrow," Buffy replied, Ideas…yeah, ideas….she silently added to herself as she shut the door behind Angel.

"If it’s a school project, why is it in your waistband?" Joyce asked handing Buffy back the stake.

"Do you see any pockets in this skirt, Mom?" Buffy quipped as she headed upstairs to bed.

I don’t see any skirt in that skirt, Joyce answered silently.

Giles came out of his office to stare at the group gathered in the library. Buffy was sitting on the table at one corner with her feet resting on the chair. She was leaning over talking to Willow, clearly gossiping. Meanwhile Xander was at the other end of the table leaning his chair back using the table for a footrest, as he flipped through a magazine. He wanted to yell at them to sit at a table properly, but he realized it wouldn’t do any good. They had had that conversation before.

Instead he cleared his throat and interrupted the gossiping, "Buffy, you said the vampire that attacked you last night was named Damian?"

Looking up, Buffy answered, "Yeah. Angel seemed to know him. Didn’t seem like a happy family reunion either."

"I should say not, according to this Damian’s been around almost as long as the Master. But that’s all I could find on him." He removed his glasses and began to clean them.

"Great. He can still die of a pointy stick right?"

Just then the library doors burst open and Cordelia stomped in. "Can you believe that Harmony is wearing the same dress I am?" she yelled. "It was supposed to be an original dress." She looked around at the blank faces staring at her. "What?" she asked still not understanding.

"Well, fashion etiquette aside, we need to find out more about him. Willow, you and Cordelia start looking things up in the computer. Xander will help me here in the library. Buffy, why don’t you see if Angel has any more information."

"Why can’t I play on the computer?" Xander whined as he followed Giles into his office.

Willow sat down in front of the computer, flipped the power switch and nothing happened. After checking all the cords, she called out, "Giles, your computer’s dead."

"You are in a building full of computers, Willow. I’m sure you can find another one." Giles shouted from inside the office.

She grabbed Cordelia’s arm and whisked her out of the library. "Let’s use Mr. Chapman’s computer. I’ve been dying to get my hands on it since it came in, and his class is out on a field trip today," Willow said excitedly.

"Fine, but I still don’t see why I have to stay. I don’t need to watch someone else use a computer," Cordelia gruffed.

Willow sat down at the desk and began to pull up the Internet. What they saw made both girls gasp in unison. "That’s his home page?" Cordelia asked Willow who was blushing profusely.

The girls were staring at the most obscene website they have ever seen. The orgy playing out in front of them in very vivid video, was more than either of the girls could have imagined. "How…I mean what…I mean…" Willow stuttered.

"OK, I know way too much about Mr. Chapman now." Cordelia huffed still unable to tear her eyes from the screen. "Is that Snyder?" she asked gesturing at a figure on the screen.

Squinting at the screen she answered the question that would haunt her for years to come "Hard to tell, but if it is, he’s wearing a kilt."

Willow shook her head violently to try and clear that visual image, as Cordelia just shuddered beside her. Attempting to erase the past few minutes of her life, she decided research was the cure all. Cordelia sat down in a nearby chair and began to file her nails.

Suddenly, an idea occurred to her, "Willow, I’ve helped you guys a lot right?"

"A few times," Willow answered still concentrating on her research.

"…and I’ve never asked for anything in return right?"

"No, just complained the whole time," Willow said suddenly worried about where this conversation was headed.

"Well, I was thinking it’s time for my reward." Willow looked up from the computer. "See, I’m not doing very well in Mr. Chapman’s class and I think I may know how to up my grade…" she trailed off.

"Sure, I can help you. I’m great in chemistry," Willow beamed. Tutoring the most popular girl in school might get me out of a lot of teasing, she thought to herself.

"You mean study?" Cordelia asked shocked that someone would even suggest that. "Cute, but no. I meant the stuff on his computer gave me an idea."

"You can’t sleep with Mr. Chapman! He’s so old!" Willow was shocked that she would even suggest that.

"Eww, yuck! Old nothing, he looks like a troll! I was thinking that I could make him think I’m sleeping with you." Cordelia smiled her most dazzling smile.

"I think I prefer you sleeping with Mr. Chapman." Willow muttered trying to go back to her research.

"Come on Willow, I just need him to think that, not really do it. Just flirt with me in front of him," Cordelia practically begged.

"No way," Willow answered, astonished that Cordelia was even suggesting this.

"Fine, how $100 sound?" Money will get you anything, Cordelia rationalized.

"Not for anything," Willow said putting on her resolve face.

**********

That afternoon, Willow and Buffy stood in the hallway.

"Buffy, we have homework," Willow complained as she watched Buffy put all her books in her locker.

"Well, I thought about it, and I figured that researching the psychotic vampire that’s trying to kill me will get me further in life than algebra," Buffy quipped. "Besides, I know what you’d rather be doing tonight…"

"Well, he did call." Willow blushed remembering how excited she was when Riley had called, "We are going out tonight. You and Angel should come and make it a double date."

"Oh, no," Buffy protested. "We want to be alone, and you can’t get to know Riley very well if someone is hanging around."

Willow wanted to insist that they come, but was interrupted as Cordy appeared at their side. "I’ll go out with you," Cordy purred as she leaned into Willow and tucked a strand of hair behind Willow’s ear.

Willow’s eyes widened in panic as she felt Cordelia’s hand gently cup her cheek. "Cordy, I told you no," she whispered as she noticed Mr. Chapman coming down the hallway behind them.

"Just go with it," Cordelia snapped quietly. She leaned in, and Willow was afraid she was going to kiss her. Instead she turned her head to the side and whispered in Willow’s ear, "Please, I need a good grade." Willow saw Mr. Chapman freeze in his tracks as he watched the show in front of him.

Feelings Willow didn’t know existed began to blossom inside her, as Cordelia whispered in her ear. She turned Cordelia’s face towards her and pulled her into a passionate kiss. Cordelia’s eyes flew open. She was shocked. First Willow didn’t want to go along; now Willow couldn’t seem to stop.

Buffy finally broke the silence. "How are you today, Mr. Chapman?" she said staring directly at the drooling man standing in front of them.

Mr. Chapman cleared his throat. "I’m fine," he finally choked out, his voice full of lust. He hurried off towards his classroom, walking with an obvious limp from his excitement.

As soon as he was out of sight, Buffy turned to the two girls. "OK, what was that?"

"I bet I ace his class for the next semester!" Cordelia said beaming. "Willow that was over the top, I didn’t think you’d kiss me, but…wow. Thanks." She quickly rushed off.

Willow slowly turned to look at Buffy, heat creeping up her face. "I didn’t mean to do it…it just…well…happened."

Buffy took her arm reassuringly, and whispered, "Your secret’s safe with me." Willow smiled in relief.

**********

That evening Buffy arrived at the library to find it empty. Realizing for the first time in her life she must be early, she walked into the cage and began to explore the weapons closet. Giles seemed to get another weapon every day, and she could never keep up. She picked up what seemed to be throwing knives, but as she unsheathed them she realized they were made entirely of wood. As she began to ponder the possibilities presented by this weapon, she felt arms slip around her waist.

He began to plant kisses on the back of her neck, and she leaned into him. "Angel," she breathed.

"So, have you thought of any other uses for pointed sticks?" he teased as he nuzzled her neck.

Sliding in his arms she turned to face him, "Picking up where we left off yesterday?"

"If you want," silently begging for a yes.

"Oh, I want," Buffy answered in a lust-filled voice.

With that Angel spun her around and pinned her against the side of the library cage. Their lips met in a passionate kiss, a kiss that promised so much more. His slowly slid his hand up her body to cup her delicate breast, and was instantly rewarded with a moan as the pebbled surface of her nipple hardened in his hand. He slowly slid his hand down until he met the waistband of her short skirt. He gently pulled the shirt out of her waistband and slid his hand upwards again. The touch of his cold skin lit a fire in Buffy. She broke off the kiss, unable to get air fast enough and turned her head to the side, baring her neck to him. The trust in that move fueled Angel’s passion and dissipated any reservations of going too fast for her. His hand quickly closed the distance to her bare breast. He began to knead her breast as he slowly kissed and licked her bare neck.

He could feel the pulse hammering in her neck. He could smell her blood boiling for him. As he slipped into game face, he threw caution to the wind and removed his hand from her breast. He didn’t hesitate as he heard her whimper of protest turn into a throaty moan of pleasure as his hand slipped under her skirt. He could feel how wet and ready she was for him as he gently tugged her underwear to the side and plunged his finger inside her.

Buffy almost screamed at the pleasant intrusion and was amazed Angel was going this far. She had only dreamed he would, he had always been so timid before. Coherent thought was lost as his thumb brushed against her bundle of nerves. "Let me taste you," Angel growled into her ear.

*******

Willow and Xander were walking up the sidewalk to the school when they saw Riley waving at them in the distance.

"What’s he doing here?" Xander said under his breath to Willow.

"Not sure," Willow answered quietly as he jogged up to them.

"Hey guys, what are you doing here?" Riley said leaning over to catch his breath.

"We were just heading to the library," Willow answered, "I thought we were meeting up later tonight…" she trailed off trying to distract Riley from going inside. How can we plan for Damian while he’s there? she thought to herself.

"We were…I mean are…I mean…I was just in the neighborhood." Riley finally stammered out. "But why don’t we go out now?" Riley asked cheerfully.

"Um…I can’t. I gotta’ do this thing…." Willow trailed off motioning towards the school doors. She didn’t want to scare him off, but she didn’t want him to come inside.

"Well, can I tag along?" Riley asked trying to appear innocent. He had picked up the signal of an HST inside that building and he didn’t want Willow anywhere near it. How can I keep her out without blowing my cover? he wondered.

"Um…okay…." Willow said as she started up the steps to the school. Maybe if she picked a really boring topic of conversation once inside, he would leave.

**********

"Let me taste you," Angel growled into Buffy’s ear. Feeling her tense up he realized that probably wasn’t the smartest thing he’d ever said. Here he was a vampire, in game face, kissing the exposed neck of a sixteen-year-old virgin, and he asked to taste her. Hoping to clear up the confusion he whispered, "Please baby, it won’t hurt."

The meaning of his words dawned on Buffy, causing her body to become even wetter with the thought. Knowing Angel could smell her reaction, she knew he still needed to here those words, "Yes, Angel."

Dropping to his knees in front of her, he willed his face back to human. As he gently lifted her skirt he looked up and met her eyes. The fire he saw in those eyes solidified his approach. He slid his finger out of her, and wrapped his hands around her hips. His tongue flicked out and darted over her clit. The moan she responded with caused him to lose the battle with his demon and his game face returned. Turning his face to the side he sliced her underwear with his fangs so he could ravish her fully. He slid one hand down over her thigh and pressed lightly behind her knee, pulling her leg over his shoulder and was rewarded with the full sight of her. He buried his face in her, licking and sucking until she was screaming for release. Sliding a finger inside her, and sucking her into his mouth…the library door opened.

Seeing what was happening in the library cage, Xander and Willow quickly turned their backs to the scene, without making a sound. Riley shouted, "What the hell?!?"

The second it left his mouth, Xander yelled, "Riley, no!" but it was too late.

Angel dropped Buffy’s leg to the floor. Still kneeling, he peered around her legs and stared with golden eyes at Riley. Riley’s training kicked in. He shouted to Buffy to move away as he withdrew a baton from his back pocket. With a flick of his wrist, the metal baton extended, revealing a wooden point at the end of it. Angel charged him kicking weapons everywhere as he let his anger at being interrupted took over.

Buffy quickly recovered. Stepping between the two men, she shoved each across the room with the slightest touch. "Stop it!" she yelled. Facing Angel she said, "He didn’t know." Turning to glare at Riley she added, "Why do you have a stake in your pocket?"

Riley looked at Buffy, then Angel, then back to Buffy, eyes widening as the horror dawned on him. "You know what he is, and you still let him do that to you?"

"I asked you first," Buffy said insistently.

"I was tracking a vampire, but I didn’t know where he was exactly." Riley admitted, trying to keep as much of his cover intact as he could.

"We didn’t know what we were walking into. Sorry," Willow explained. "We hadn’t warned him not to interrupt you, if we found…if you were…" Willow trailed off.

"How long have you been hunting vampires? I mean, I assume that’s what you were doing." Buffy spit the words out.

"I can’t say," Riley answered honestly.

"Well, I’m guessing it’s been a little while from your little display with the stake," Buffy filled in for him. "So, you’ve been around vampires before and you never learned the rule about interrupting them during sex?" She wanted to look at Angel to make sure he had calmed down, but didn’t dare look away from Riley.

A voice drifted from behind them all, "I, for one, was most put out by the interruption…"

Willow shouted, "Buffy! Behind you."

Time seemed to slow down for Buffy. Everything moved in slow motion. She noticed that somehow the wooden throwing knife had ended up a few inches in front of her foot. She reached out with her foot, tapping the end of it enough to flip it up into the air. She grabbed it out of the air with her right hand, faked a move towards a weapon with her left hand causing Damian to move towards her. She quickly spun around bringing up the knife as she turned. She released the knife and it hit its mark before Damian even realized she had turned. "Not now," she yelled as he exploded into dust, and time returned to normal.

She looked around at the now silent room. Everyone was staring at her. "What?" Buffy asked.

"OK. That was cool," Xander said finally putting into words what they were all thinking.

"I’m still a little confused about what’s going on here," Riley said shaking his head, "and how the hell did you do that?"

"I can’t tell you," Buffy smirked throwing his words back in his face.

Giles walked through the doors of the library, reading the book in his hand. "Buffy, I’ve been reading up on our friend Damian, and I don’t think a stake will do the trick." Looking up from his book, he looked around the room, finally meeting the eyes of Riley. Realizing he had said something that wouldn’t be interpreted well by outsiders he added, "I think he’ll want a side of potatoes as well."

Buffy started to giggle, followed by Willow, and it spread like wildfire through the room. "Did I miss something?" Giles asked, not understanding the giggles erupting around the room. Buffy motioned towards the dust pile on the far side of the library; the wooden knife was lying on top. "Well then…I don’t think I’ll be needing that book again," he said as he slammed the book shut with one hand. "I don’t think we’ve met yet." Giles said holding his hand out to Riley.

"Riley," he answered, "nice to meet you, sir"

OK…military…I’m getting it now, Buffy thought hearing the ‘sir’. "C’mon Giles, we’ll explain it down at the bronze."

"No way am I going there. It is much too noisy."

Angel watched as Buffy and the Scoobies followed Giles into his office. He walked over to stand next to Riley. Feeling Riley bristle as the closeness of the vampire, Angel said, "Relax. I won’t hurt you."

Riley turned to Angel wondering how many questions he would ask tonight, and how many Angel would be willing to answer. "I have two questions…"

"Only two?" Angel said cocking his eyebrow.

"Would you have killed her if I hadn’t come in?" He watched Angel’s reaction very slowly. He expected to see anger, or hate, or at least a good lie behind Angel’s eyes. What he saw shocked him.

Riley knew the answer before the words left Angel’s mouth, "I could never hurt her. I love her too much."

"Fair enough." The next question wasn’t so easy, "Well…I guess I should…I mean if we aren’t supposed to interrupt you…well…" Riley trailed off, blushing like a schoolboy.

Angel chuckled softly at his embarrassment and saved him by cutting him off, "What are you supposed to do? Is that the question?" Angel watched as Riley studied his feet, but nodded yes. "Tonight was a very inopportune moment, and I apologize for coming at you so strongly. Normally, I would suggest leaving the room."

Riley was saved from further embarrassment, as voices came from Giles’ office. "We are not going to an Elton John concert, Buffy. Not ever. I’d prefer your noise to that." Giles said angrily but the laughter in his eyes betrayed his tone. He knew the girls were just teasing him.

"C’mon Riley, I think we all have a lot to talk about," Willow said as she took his arm and led him out of the library. As Xander began to push through the doors to leave, he turned to face Buffy. "That was truly one hell of a show," he said laughing at Angel’s growl in response.

Buffy wrapped her arm around Angel’s waist. "C’mon, let’s go with them."

"Do you need to go home and change first?" Angel said, very aware of the fact that she was no longer wearing underwear under her skirt.

Buffy smiled coyly, "No, I think you’ll be a more interesting date if I go like this." With that, she walked out the library doors, Angel close on her heels.
