Author’s Note: This fic is in response to Gileswench’s sillyfic challenge on BGWM, which was as follows:

Pairing: B/G
Rating: Open, but smut always gets you extra Wenchpoints.
Situation: Buffy and Giles are on their first date. They try to remain low profile, but everyone finds out, and I mean EVERYONE. By ones and twos and hordes, everyone spies on our heroes as they attempt to have one normal night to themselves.
Must include ALL of the following: Spike and Principal Wood working together despite the fact that Wood is still trying to decide whether to stake Spike, someone using magic unsuccessfully to spy on our duo, a long gone (but not dead) character coming to town and joining in the spying, someone saying 'it's only kinky if you do it right', extreme silliness.
Must include at least TWO of the following: whipped cream, a reference to Kentucky Fried Movie, the formation of a new and unexpected romantic pairing, a rude comment about at least one of Buffy's former boyfriends, someone pelting Dawn with marshmallows.

And since this is meant to be happy sillyfic, please no character death, no BDSM, and no bad things that can't be reversed and laughed at, even by the people they happen to.

I’m not sure how silly it is, but I managed to work in everything but the movie.

Dedication: This is for the great and powerful Gileswench, in the hopes that it brightens your day as much as your stories brighten mine.

Never Saw It Coming – Part 1

No matter how convoluted his words had been to her, Whistler had told Buffy one thing that had always proven true.

No matter how prepared you were, you were never ready for the big moments.

Buffy stared at the computer screen, the other counselors and principals in the office talking, laughing, bustling purposely from one place to another. Buffy noticed none of it, because she was still reeling from the events of the night before.

Quite honestly, it had been a normal night on the Hellmouth. Principal Wood, her boss, admitted he was the child of a Slayer. Spike had interrupted their cozy, romantic dinner because Xander had gotten himself involved with the wrong type of woman. Again. [Man, what was it with him and demon women?] Buffy wondered idly. They’d returned home, where Xander had declared he was going to become gay to avoid any future demon dates. Of course, the gang had rolled with the punches and razzed him.

Then Giles had lost it. To be honest, Buffy had to admit that she should’ve seen it coming. As if it hadn’t been bad enough that everyone had believed he was the First, there was his disappointment with her that she’d decided to have Spike’s chip removed. Buffy supposed that she should have realized that Giles was near the end of his rope.

“Have you learned nothing from tonight's assorted chaos? There isn't time for fun and games and quips about orientation.” he’d fumed. Giles had held up the flashcards he’d been using with Chao-Ahn. “These aren't a joke. This happens. Girls are going to die. We may die. It's time to get serious.”

And with those comforting words, Giles had stormed from the room, leaving them all speechless in his wake. Buffy hadn’t remained speechless for long. Incensed, she’d stormed after him, growing increasingly furious when she’d realized that he’d left the safety of the house in his anger.

Giles had only gotten a block away when Buffy had caught up with him. Grabbing him by the elbow, she’d spun him around to face her.

“What the hell is your problem?” she’d demanded angrily. Giles’ face had been a mask of cold fury.

“Right now,” he’d hissed. “my problem is you.” Wrenching his arm from her grip, Giles had turned and stalked away from Buffy. Enraged, Buffy had followed.

“Don’t you dare lay this at my feet.” she’d told him. “Do you think I don’t realize how serious this shit is?” Giles had whirled to face her.

“You have no idea.” he’d accused heatedly. “I think you’re too busy mooning over Spike. And if he weren’t bad enough, now you’re batting your eyes at someone you barely even know.” Buffy had been taken aback by his words, hurt that that he could think so poorly of her.

“I can’t believe you think I still have any feelings other than pity for Spike.” she’d shouted at him. “As for Principal Wood, I was just trying to figure out what his part in all this is.” Buffy shook her head. “What the hell do you care, anyway?” she’d demanded. “What do you care who I sleep with?” Instantly, Buffy had known she’d gone to far with this last jibe. Giles’ face had gone completely expressionless at her words. Part of Buffy had wanted to take it back, tell him that she didn’t mean it. Of course, she hadn’t. She’d been too mad, and her mouth had kept moving. “It’s not like you’re my father.”

“No I’m not.” Giles had snarled, and before she could react, he’d grabbed her and pulled her to him. Giles’ mouth had covered hers in a hard, punishing kiss. Stunned, Buffy hadn’t reacted at first. She simply hadn’t been able to believe that her Watcher was kissing her in a most unfatherly sort of way.

When the shock had worn off, Buffy had begun to respond to his kiss. Her lips had parted and allowed his tongue to plunge into her mouth. Buffy had kissed him back, her mouth as demanding as his.

As if he’d suddenly realized what he’d done, Giles had pushed her away. Buffy and Giles had stared at each other in stunned amazement, chests heaving as they’d gulped for air.

As she’d stood there, staring at him, watching him watch her, Buffy had known the truth. Known why she’d been so unhappy for the past year.

Because she’d fallen in love with Giles.

Nope, she’d never seen it coming.

All the anger had seemed to suddenly drain out of Giles and his shoulders had slumped in defeat. A look of horror had come over him.

“Buffy, I’m sor-“ Giles had stammered. He’d stopped, taken a deep breath. “I apologize. That was uncalled for.” he’d said. Then he’d turned and walked away again. Buffy had watched him in amazement, her mind whirling a mile a minute. Giles had been about to turn the corner before she’d been able to galvanize herself into action.

“Giles!” His name had been torn from her throat, desperation and hope all mixed in one word. Giles had stopped, and he’d looked at her so mournfully that Buffy had felt her heart clench. She’d run after him.

“I’m sorry for what I said.” she’d whispered. “I didn’t mean it.” Giles had nodded sadly.

“Perhaps I should find a hotel for the evening.” he’d suggested, his eyes never quite meeting hers. Buffy shook her head.

“You’ll be safer at the house.” she’d insisted softly. She’d taken a deep breath, and her words had tumbled out in a rush. “Maybe tomorrow night, you and I, we could, you know, go out. Like on a date or something?” Giles’ gaze had shot to her then. He’d looked at her so incredulously, as if he couldn’t believe his ears.

“A date?” he’d asked in disbelief. Buffy had nodded.

“Yeah, um, just you and me.” Buffy had shrugged. “I mean, I kinda got the impression back there that your feelings for me have moved beyond the Watcher-Slayer thing.”

“A pity date?” Giles had snorted, shaking his head. “Thank you, but I’ll pass.” He’d turned to go again, but Buffy had stopped him. She’d stood on her tiptoes and brought her mouth to his again. Giles had returned the kiss instantly, hungry for the taste of her. Buffy had moved away after a few minutes.

“Does that feel like a pity date to you?” she’d whispered. In shock, Giles had only been able to shake his head.

Which was why now, Buffy was sitting at her desk in a Giles-induced haze, wondering what the hell she was going to wear that night. Buffy shook her head as the memory of kissing Giles began to replay itself. It had been on an endless loop all day, leading to daydreams chockfull of Gilesy goodness.

It had been Giles’ idea to keep their date a secret from the rest of the gang. He’d told Buffy that this first time, he wanted to have her all to himself, without any snide remarks from the others. Buffy had agreed readily. Despite the fact she was bursting to tell Willow all about this amazing turn of events, she wanted to keep Giles to herself for a bit.

Buffy’s phone rang, jolting her back into the present. Looking around to see if anyone had noticed her daydreaming again, she picked up the receiver.

“Buffy Summers.” she said, her voice business-like. She heard a soft chuckle on the other end of the line and her heart immediately melted into her toes.

“Don’t you sound all official.” Giles teased quietly. Buffy smiled.

“Hey.” she sighed. “Everyone gone?” Giles’ voice was low as he replied.

“They’re out training. It’s the first time I’ve been alone all day.”

“All that girl power’s getting on your nerves, huh?” Giles laughed.

“Just a bit.” he admitted. “I’ve missed you.”

“I miss you too.” Buffy agreed, her voice dropping. “I just thought we shouldn’t run into each other this morning. I think the others would’ve guessed what was going on the minute I looked at you.”

“Quite right. After tonight…” he started.

“After tonight, I don’t care who knows.” Buffy interrupted. “But tonight’s just for me and you.” Closing her eyes, Buffy could imagine Giles standing in the kitchen, leaning against the wall as he spoke to her.

“Just us.” he agreed softly. “Seven pm at Marco’s.” he told her, naming the Italian restaurant he’d made reservations at. They had agreed that they would meet at the restaurant separately so that the others wouldn’t suspect anything.

“Seven at Marco’s.” Buffy confirmed. “I’ll see you then.”

From the doorway, Principal Robin Wood watched Buffy hang up the phone with narrowed eyes. She’d kept her voice low, but he’d been able to overhear the conversation. He didn’t need to be a rocket scientist to know who she’d been talking to. It had been all too obvious the night before. Wood felt his stomach roll with disgust. Buffy had a date with the damned vampire that had killed his mother. [Well, we’ll just see about that.] he thought, slipping back into his office.

Giles smiled as he hung up the phone, his hand lingering on the receiver as he thought of Buffy. He was loathe to admit it, but he had been worried when he’d woken to find Buffy already gone for the day. He’d been afraid that she’d changed her mind about the two of them. Until he’d found the note she’d hidden in his shoe of all places. Smiling, Giles pulled the missive out of his pants pocket.

Dear Giles,

Hopefully you don’t walk around with this in your shoe all day. It was the only place I could think of to hide this that the others wouldn’t see it.

I can’t wait until tonight, when I can kiss you and hold you in my arms again. I can’t wait to show you how much I’ve missed you over the past year.

Love,

Buffy

Giles folded the note and shoved it back in his pocket. Never had he imagined that Buffy felt like this about him. He’d been so sure that he would spend the rest of his life loving her from afar, doomed to spend eternity watching her involve herself with one wrong man after another.

Instead, with one flash of temper, he’d discovered otherwise. If he’d known that, he would’ve kissed her sooner. Giles smiled. [Ah, well, we’ll be sure to make up for lost time.] he thought as he moved into the living room.

Giles was so caught up in his thoughts, that he didn’t notice that basement door was open a crack or that eyes watched him as he passed by.

[So, Watcher’s got a date, does he?] Spike thought with glee. He knew there was only one person who was a real danger to his reconciliation with Buffy. And that person was currently humming happily in the living room. [No doubt imagining shagging his latest bird.]

Spike’s vampire sense of smell had easily picked up the pheromones that were bandied about by the Watcher and the Slayer, whenever they were around each other. Spike grinned. Buffy would go through the roof when she found out, especially after that rant Giles had gone on the night before. She’d be none to pleased that Rupert Giles had decided to get himself laid before the end of the world. It was sure to cause a permanent rift between the Watcher and Slayer. Soul or not, Spike knew that once Giles was out of Buffy’s life, she would be his. Spike closed the basement door quietly, rubbing his hands together as he began to plan.

“…mad at us?” Buffy stared into the distance as she sat at the table, her chin in her hand. Around her, the Slayers in Training were all talking, gossiping about this or that. “Buffy.” Buffy started, glancing over guiltily, realizing that Willow had been talking to her.

“Huh? What?” she asked. Willow sighed. Buffy had been in La La Land ever since she’d gotten home from school.

“I asked if you thought Giles was still mad at us?” Willow repeated. Willow narrowed her eyes as a dreamy look passed over Buffy’s face. She’d been doing that every time Giles’ name had been mentioned. “Buffy?”

“Hmm?” Buffy dragged herself out of her daydream. “Oh, Giles, um, I doubt it. You know he can’t stay mad at us long.” Buffy pointed out, shrugging. Willow looked confused.

“Didn’t you talk to him last night?” she asked. [Why does Buffy look so guilty?] Buffy shook her head.

“Nah, couldn’t find him.” Buffy told Willow carelessly. A little too carelessly for Willow’s taste.

“But, he’s not here. He just took off and left a note about some possible new information…”

“Willow, don’t worry about it. He’ll get over it. Trust me.” Buffy said, before pushing back her chair and walking quickly from the kitchen. [God, I am the worst liar. Willow is never going to buy this.]

Buffy made her way through the crowded house, stepping over the sprawled bodies of the potential Slayers, as she made her way up to the relative privacy of her room. Closing the door and locking it, Buffy leaned against it.

Giles had had it easy. He’d left before everyone came home, before there would be questions asked. All he’d had to do to explain his absence was leave a note about research. Not a soul in this house would question that. It was Buffy who was going to have to lie and sneak. And, Lord knew, she sucked at undercover. Sighing, Buffy went to the closet and began looking for an outfit for that night.

Marco’s was a nice place, so a skirt was a must. Plus, Buffy wanted to knock Giles’ socks off. Buffy rummaged through her selections, tossing some on the bed for a later decision, dismissing others immediately.

Buffy found the perfect dress in the back of her closet, a simple black dress. She must have bought it before her leap from Glory’s tower, because she certainly hadn’t been big on the clothes shopping after that. Buffy held it in front of her as she gazed at her reflection in the mirror. It was sleeveless and would show off her arms, and the scoop neck would give Giles a tantalizing view without making her look slutty. Buffy smiled. And of course, it was a short dress, so it would show off her legs.

Tossing it onto the bed, Buffy dove back into the closet for shoes. It took her longer than she expected, because she only found one of the pair she wanted. After a few minutes, Buffy emerged from the closet, victorious, a shoe in each hand.

Buffy pulled her overnight bag out from under the bed and began packing the things she’d need for the evening; her dress, the shoes, make up. Buffy hesitated and then went to her dresser. She pulled out a black silk nightgown that she’d originally bought for Riley, but never had the heart to wear while they were still together. Riley wouldn’t have appreciated the floor length column of silk. Buffy had known that he would’ve yanked it from her body, breaking the delicate spaghetti straps, going straight for the sex. Buffy sighed as her fingers caressed the silk. [Giles will appreciate it.] she thought. [He’ll totally enjoy the way the silk will feel against his skin.] Buffy shivered as she thought of Giles removing the silk from her body.

[Oh, wow. Way too hot in here now.] Buffy thought, fanning her face. She crammed the nightgown, as well as any other necessities she might need if she and Giles spent the night together, into her bag. Zipping it closed, Buffy glanced at the clock. It was nearly 6:30. [Damn it!] Buffy knew she was going to have to hustle if she wanted to be on time to meet Giles.

Buffy stuck her head out of her bedroom window, checking for anyone who might be watching. She didn’t see anyone, so she cautiously clambered out onto the roof and hitched her bag to a handy tree limb. Climbing back into the house, Buffy grabbed a jacket and opened her bedroom door, dashing into the hallway.

“Oomph.” Buffy grunted as she’d immediately collided with the person standing outside her door. Well, person was probably too loose of a term. Buffy had slammed into Spike, who’d been just about to knock on her door. [Shit.] Buffy thought, as Spike stared down at her soulfully. [So not who I want to see right now.]

“Buffy, we need to talk.” Spike said, his voice as serious and expressive as he could make it. Buffy rolled her eyes, and pushed past him.

“Not now, Spike, I need to patrol.” she told him. Trundling down the stairs, Buffy left Spike to trail behind her.

“I’ll come, help out.” he said, seeing his chance to separate her and Giles forever slipping away. Buffy whirled.

“NO!” she said in a panic. Seeing the shock on Spike’s face, Buffy took a deep breath and calmed herself. “No.” she said again, calmer this time. “I need to patrol by myself tonight.”

“Don’t you want to know what you’re Watcher’s up to tonight?” Spike asked as Buffy walked away. [Undercover time.] Buffy thought, whirling around.

“Giles is working on a prophecy.” she told him. Spike snickered.

“Is that what he told you children?” Spike leaned toward Buffy. “Your Watcher man’s gotta date.” he whispered. Buffy’s eyes widened, and then, recovering herself, she laughed.

“Giles? A date? Please, Spike, don’t make me laugh. Giles is entirely too old to be dating.” Buffy sent a silent apology to her Watcher for making such an insane statement. With that, Buffy turned her back on the vampire. Calling to Willow that she was going on patrol, Buffy flounced out of the house.

Spike watched Buffy go, a sinking feeling in the pit of his stomach. If Buffy didn’t catch her Watcher out on his date, she’d never come back to him. Spike turned and headed toward the basement. [Time to think of plan B.]

Once outside, Buffy ran to the tree, jumped up and snatched down her bag. Slinging it over her shoulder, Buffy started running towards the restaurant.

“Buffy!” Willow called, as she heard the door slam. She dashed out to the living room, flung open the door, but Buffy was gone.

“Something’s definitely going on.” Willow muttered to herself. She walked back to the laundry room and picked up the clothes basket piled high with clean and folded clothes. She went from room to room, delivering clothing to it’s owners. Her last stop was Buffy’s room. Opening the door, Willow froze in her tracks.

Buffy’s room was a disaster area. Dresser drawers were open, the closet was open, clothes were strewn all over the place. Willow dropped the laundry basket and ran out of the room.

“Spike!” she yelled, trundling down the stairs. Spike burst out of the basement, expecting trouble.

“What? What’s wrong?” he asked urgently. Willow skidded to a halt in front of him.

“Have you been in Buffy’s room?” Willow demanded. Xander arrived in the kitchen, drawn by Willow’s voice.

“No.” Spike said defensively. Willow glared at him.

“Are you sure? ‘Cause it looks like someone ransacked her room, maybe to steal some clothing.” Xander stood menacingly behind Willow.

“Spike, if you’ve been in…” he started. Spike snorted.

“Whaddya gonna do? Sic Red here on me?” Spike mocked. Xander glowered at him. “And I’m telling you, I wasn’t in her room.”

“And we’re supposed to believe that?” Xander demanded. Willow had been watching Spike the whole time, and placed a reassuring hand on Xander’s chest.

“I think he’s telling the truth.” she told him. Xander looked down in surprise.

“Really? Well, ok.” Xander shifted uneasily. “But just know…” Spike waved him off.

“Yeah, yeah, stake through the heart, dust on the wind.” Ignoring Spike, Willow turned to Xander.

“There is definitely something weird going on.” she muttered. She turned, as someone began pounding on the door.

Buffy arrived at Marco’s only five minutes late. She’d stopped at Willy’s to change, and she’d paused to threaten him with death if he told anyone. That and a stupid vampire had challenged her as she’d come through the park. But he was dust now, and she’d made it.

Buffy gave herself a quick pat down, checking that everything was still in place. She straightened her skirt, made sure her bra straps weren’t showing and dusted off any residual vampire dust. Flipping out a mirror, she checked her hair and make up. Buffy shoved the mirror in her little black evening bag and hitched her overnight bag over her shoulder. Then taking a deep breath, Buffy swept into the restaurant.

The hostess greeted Buffy with an incredulous look.

“May I help you?” she asked, staring at Buffy’s overnight bag. Buffy nodded.

“Rupert Giles’ table.” Buffy requested. The hostess nodded.

“Would you like to check your bag?” she suggested, pointing to the coat check. Buffy followed her gaze.

“Oh, sure.” she said, striding over and giving the girl behind the counter her bag. Buffy smiled as she was given a numbered slip, and walked back to the hostess.

“Follow me, please.” Buffy trailed behind her as they wound between the tables. The woman led Buffy to a small table in the back of the restaurant, hidden behind some green bushy plants.

Giles rose as he saw Buffy approach, smoothing down his jacket. Buffy felt her heart skip a beat. [He looks amazing in a suit.] Buffy thought. Giles sent a smile of thanks at the hostess as she told them their waiter would be right with them. Reaching out, Giles took Buffy’s hand and brought it to his lips.

“You look beautiful.” he told her, kissing her knuckles. Buffy blushed.

“Thank you.” she stammered. “You look fabulous. I forgot how great you look in a suit.” Giles held her chair while she sat, then sat across from her. For a moment there was silence, as they stared at each other. Finally Buffy laughed.

“We’ve known each other for how long, and now we’re speechless.” Giles ducked his head as he smiled, a huge toothy grin. Buffy leaned over and touched his cheek.

“I don’t see that enough.” she said softly. “I don’t see that huge ‘Dear Lord, I’m happy’ smile from you enough.” Giles reached up and covered her hand with his, kissing her palm.

“You’re seeing it now.” he said. Buffy knew what he wasn’t saying, that there hadn’t been much to smile about lately. She knew it, and he knew it, and they were both going to ignore it, because tonight was theirs, and theirs, alone.

Willow opened the door to find Principal Wood on the doorstep.

“Is Buffy here?” Wood asked, searching the living room over Willow’s head. He saw the guy they’d rescued the night before, a bunch of girls sprawled in the living room watching tv and that damned vampire, all staring back at him.

“No, she’s not.” Willow was telling him. Wood looked at her in disbelief.

“I won’t make her late for her date.” he said, giving Spike a hard look. If he was here, Buffy had to be there. “I just needed to talk to her for a minute.” Wood suddenly realized that everyone was looking at him like he’d gone mad. Spike swaggered forward angrily.

“Wait a minute. Did you say date?” he demanded. Wood nodded.

“I heard her talking to you on the phone earlier, when you were planning your date.” he told Spike coldly. Spike shook his head in disbelief.

“Wasn’t me, mate.” he protested. “Oh bloody hell!” Spike shouted as he put two and two together. “The bleedin’ Watcher.” he cursed. Spike banged his head against a wall.

“Ok, as much as I’m enjoying watching you beat yourself senseless,” Xander said, stepping forward. “You wanna fill the rest of us in on what’s going on?” Spike didn’t answer, so Xander turned to Wood. “You’re telling us that Buffy has a date tonight?” Wood nodded and Xander swiveled back to watch Spike for a second. “Ok, I’m going to go out on a limb here and guess that Spanky here thinks...” Xander’s eyes got wide. “Buffy and Giles?” He turned to Willow. “Giles and Buffy?”

Wood followed this conversation, his eyes going back and forth between Xander and Spike, who had put his fist through the wall.

“Who’s this Giles?” he asked, curiously.

“Giles? Oh, he’s um, Buffy’s, um,…” Willow floundered, trying to think of a lie.

“Her Watcher?” Wood suggested, remembering Spike’s words. Xander nodded.

“Which is nothing like a stalker, mind you.” he assured the principal. Wood rolled his eyes.

“I know what a Watcher is.” he drawled. “I just never knew them to actually date their Slayers.” This statement drew stares from every single person in the room, including Spike. “It’s a long story, but I know all about Slayers.”

“We’ve got to find Buffy right now.” Spike said suddenly. “We’ve got to put an end to this.” Xander stared at Spike, who was growing more agitated by the second. The front door opened, and Anya slipped in.

“What’s going on here?” she demanded. Anya pointed at Wood “What’s he doing here? Did anyone check to see that he’s real?” she demanded. Without waiting for an answer, Anya poked Wood in the chest, hard.

“Ow.” he yelped, rubbing the spot where she’d touched him. Anya nodded smugly, then turned to the others.

“Why are we all standing around?” Anya gestured vaguely in the direction of the Slayers in training. “Shouldn’t they be doing something… I don’t know, Slayer like?”

“Buffy’s out on a date with Giles.” Willow told her eagerly. Willow’s eyes were bright with excitement. “Isn’t it romantic?” she sighed. Spike’s jaw dropped in disbelief.

“Have you gone off your rocker, Red?” he demanded to know. Xander smiled, crossing his arms over his chest.

“Oh, I don’t know, Spike.” Xander said, leaning against the wall. “Let’s recap. First there was Dead-boy, who lost his soul and went all torture happy. Then, Scott ‘I’m going to dump you right before Homecoming’ Hope.” Xander turned to Willow. “We should have staked him.” Willow nodded solemnly as Xander picked up his thread of thought. “Dead-boy again. He learned at Scott’s knee and dumped Buffy before Prom. Then, Parker “Didn’t we have fun?” Abrams.”

“Should’ve turned him into a rat.” Willow muttered. Xander patted her shoulder comfortingly.

“Swiftly followed by Captain Cardboard. Mr. Where are they and how dead can I kill ‘em?” Xander rolled his eyes in disgust. “He leaves Buffy in the lurch, her mom sick, a god hunting for her sister. Which leads me to” Xander’s eyes turned to Spike “you, Spike.” Spike held up his hands defensively.

“Hey, I didn’t dump her. Buffy dumped me.” he pointed out.

“And we applaud her decision.” Xander mocked. Xander scratched his head as he pretended to think. “Now, let’s see… who’s always been there for Buffy? Hmmm, I don’t know. Maybe Giles?”

“He left her.” Spike hissed. “Left her when she came back from Heaven. I didn’t see him there for her then.” Xander had had enough of Spike. Grabbing him by the shoulders, Xander slammed the vampire into the wall.

“Giles did what he thought was best for Buffy. It may have been a sucky decision, and yeah, maybe he was wrong, but Giles did what he thought Buffy needed him to do to make her strong.” Xander snarled. “Unlike you, who saw a weakness in her and kept digging at it to make her weaker.”

“Xander.” Willow said softly. Xander let go of Spike as if he’d been burned. He turned and looked at everyone gathered in the foyer.

“So I say ‘Yay Giles’ for Buffy.” he told them, lifting his chin, as if daring anyone to disagree with him. Wood shrugged.

“I don’t know.” he said. “A Watcher and a Slayer together. It just seems, I don’t know. Kind of kinky.”

“It’s only kinky if they do it right.” Anya said matter of factly as she strode into the living room. Frustrated, Spike grabbed his jacket.

“Well, I’m not standing around here, doing nothing.” he declared. Spike wrenched open the door and stalked out. Wood watched him go.

“I’ll, uh, follow him. Make sure he doesn’t do anything stupid.” Wood said, darting after Spike. Willow, Xander and Anya stared at each other for a moment.

“I wonder if they’re having orgasms right now.” Anya wondered out loud. Xander winced.

“I do kind of wonder what Giles considers a fun date.” he admitted. “Although, I’m willing to bet that Buffy doesn’t have him tied up, hanging from the ceiling.” Xander clapped a hand over his mouth as a mental picture zipped into his head.

“Oh, I don’t know. Giles might enjoy it.” Anya pointed out. Willow’s face brightened.

“I know of the perfect spell. We’ll be able to see where they are, and what they’re doing.” Willow walked toward the kitchen. “Help me clear the table.”

“Mmmm. This food is delicious.” Buffy took another bite of her fettuccini. “Want a taste?” she asked Giles, holding a fork full of pasta out to him. Giles smiled and leaned forward. Buffy watched in fascination as his lips closed over her fork, sliding the food into his mouth.

“It’s quite good.” he agreed. “Would you like a taste of mine?” Nodding, Buffy leaned forward, her lips parted. Giles popped a piece of chicken into her mouth. Buffy slid the meat off the fork, her eyes never leaving Giles’. She could see them grow dark with passion. Desire hung heavy between them. Buffy chewed the chicken carefully, swallowing before asking the question she’d been wondering since the night before.

“How long…?” she started. Buffy trailed off, not knowing how to phrase her question.

“How long have I felt this way about you?” Giles asked. Buffy nodded, suddenly enthralled by her pasta. “Probably since your Prom.” Giles admitted softly. “But I never admitted my feelings, even to myself until after…” Buffy’s eyes flew to his as his words trailed off.

“After Glory.” she finished for him. Giles nodded.

“Then you came back to me. But you weren’t the Buffy I loved. You were so shattered.” Giles voice was thick with emotion as his hand reached out for Buffy’s. “If I had known, Buffy, I would’ve never let them do that spell.” he swore fiercely. “I wouldn’t have let them disturb your peace.” Buffy smiled.

“I know Giles.” she assured him. “I wish I’d known how you felt about me.” she told him softly, her eyes wistful. “Maybe if you’d stayed…” Giles shook his head.

“You still would’ve turned to Spike. Maybe if I’d been here when you’d been resurrected, if I’d been the one you felt you could confide in. But you’d already decided to confide in Spike by the time I returned...” Buffy’s eyes brimmed with tears as Giles’ words faded into a world of ‘What ifs?’

“I’m so sorry. I, I…” Seeing her dismay, Giles slid his chair closer to hers so that he could put his arm around her.

“No tears. No regrets.” Giles chided, using his napkin to blot her tears before they could fall. “It’s done, it’s passed. We’re here now, and regrets will do nothing but sadden us.” Feeling a little desperate, Buffy covered Giles’ lips with her own. Giles traced his fingers down the side of Buffy’s face as his lips moved against hers gently, calming and soothing her. Buffy finally pulled away, breathless.

“There now, all better?” Giles murmured. Buffy dropped her head to his shoulder and nodded. Giles caressed her back, running his hand along her spine.

“I love you so much, Giles.” Buffy sighed. “I didn’t realize it until last night. But now… Now, I can’t figure out how I never knew.”

Spike and Wood crept through the restaurant, careful to stay out of sight. They’d tried to get a table near Buffy and Giles, but the restaurant was booked for the evening. Which was why they were skulking behind some ferns near the bathroom, trying to keep out of sight.

“Looks like they’re just talking.” Wood pointed out, pushing green fronds aside. Spike’s face brightened as Giles said something that brought tears to Buffy’s eyes.

“Kick his ass, Slayer.” he encouraged under his breath. Much to his dismay, Giles moved his seat closer so he could comfort Buffy. “Bloody hell.” Spike cursed, as not only did Buffy allow Giles to hold her close, she kissed him. Spike looked at the floor, his stomach clenching in anger.

“You can look, they’re done.” Wood muttered. Now that he saw Buffy with this Giles person, it was clear that he didn’t have a chance. And that was ok with Wood, because it meant that Spike didn’t either. By the time Spike looked up, Buffy and Giles had resumed eating, not a tear to be seen.

“So, there I was, the cat under one arm, sticks in my hair, my clothing in tatters, and out comes my father demanding to know what that deafening commotion had been about.” Giles told Buffy. Buffy paused with the fork halfway to her mouth.

“What did you say?” Buffy asked curiously. Giles grinned at her.

“I straightened my shirt, and said with every bit of dignity I could muster ‘Why, Father, what commotion? I’ve been sitting here studying and haven’t heard a sound.’” Buffy threw back her head and laughed.

“You lied to your dad?” she giggled, delighted. “What did he say?” Giles cleared his throat and straightened his jacket pompously.

“Rupert,” he said, mimicking his father. “I’m sure one person in this room believes that story, but it’s certainly not me.” Buffy snickered joyfully. Giles laced his fingers through hers. “I received quite a paddling for breaking my grandmother’s favorite vase, and I believe I was grounded until the Queen abdicated her throne.” Giles admitted, blushing slightly. Buffy’s eyes widened.

“Does your dad know you snuck out of the house?” she teased. Giles held out more chicken, and Buffy ate from his fork.

“He still hasn’t let me forget he took pity on me and ungrounded me after a month.” Giles confessed. Buffy froze.

“Your dad’s still alive?” she asked in surprise. Giles nodded.

“You’ll like him. He’s a good man.” he told her. Buffy’s grip tightened on his hand, causing Giles to look at her in concern. “Buffy?”

“You want to introduce me to your dad?” she whispered. Giles dropped a kiss on Buffy’s forehead.

“I would’ve introduced you to him earlier, but he refuses to fly to America, despite the fact that he’s unbelievably proud of you.”

“You’re gonna make me cry again.” Buffy warned, only half joking. She leaned into Giles for another kiss, when a flash of light on the table distracted her.

“Ok, ok.” Willow said as she sat on the kitchen table. A silver bowl of water sat on the table in front of her. “It’s really simple. Once I’ve done the spell, we should be able to see them in the water.” Willow lit the incense and took a deep breath as Anya and Xander stood a safe distance away. Willow spoke a few words in what they assumed was Latin and flicked her fingers at the bowl. There was a burst of flame. Willow peered at the water and frowned. “That’s strange.” she muttered to herself. She settled back and repeated the spell. Once again, there was a burst of flame from the bowl. Willow’s brow furrowed as she stared at the bowl.

“What’s wrong?” Anya said. “Are they having orgasms?” Willow shook her head.

“No, I mean. I don’t know. Nothing’s happening.” She looked at them, confused. “I don’t understand why this isn’t working.”

“Giles, why is that crystal glowing?” Buffy asked curiously. Before this, she hadn’t noticed the clear quartz crystal that sat in the middle of the table. Now, it was aglow with a bright white light. Giles frowned as he studied the crystal.

“I was afraid of this.” he muttered. Buffy looked at him in concern.

“Afraid of what?” she asked in dismay. “Big brewin’ evil? What?” Buffy clutched Giles’ arm, worried about what the glowing crystal might signify. Giles patted her hand comfortingly, trying not to wince from her grip.

“No, nothing like that Buffy.” he assured her. “It’s just a small anti-spell spell.” Giles smiled bashfully. “Just in case anyone got suspicious and decided to look for us.” Buffy grinned.

“Willow’s being nosy, huh?” she asked. Giles smiled, kissing her again. He couldn’t get enough of her mouth. After a few minutes, he pulled away.

“Actually, she’s probably very frustrated by now.” he said. “The spell blocks any magic directed at either one of us.” Giles looked up as the waiter, came to their table to see if they wanted any dessert. Giles had just turned to ask Buffy if she’d like something, when a loud ruckus arose from behind them. Giles and Buffy turned as voices were raised in anger and the scuffling sounds of a physical confrontation could be heard.

“It’s nothing to worry about.” their waiter rushed to assure them. “There were just some gentlemen loitering by the restrooms. Several women complained about them and they’re being removed.”

At first, Spike and Wood resisted when they were asked to leave. Until several burly waiters surrounded them and closed ranks to remove them forcibly.

“I can find my own way out.” Spike protested as several waiters grabbed him by the arms. Wood knocked one waiter out before he was overpowered. The two men were dragged unceremoniously out of the restaurant and thrown into the street, the standard “And don’t come back!” shouted at them.

“This is all your fault.” Spike spat at Wood as he straightened his jacket. Wood looked at him in disbelief.

“My fault?” he shouted. “You’re the one who told them to ‘bugger off’ when they asked us why we were standing there.” Wood pointed out. Spike kicked viciously at a blue mailbox, cursing loudly.

“It’s not fair. Buffy’s mine.” Spike declared.

“Didn’t look that way from where I was standing.” Wood said, idly wishing he had a wooden stake on him. He began to look around for a possible weapon.

“I don’t get it.” Willow whined. “It should’ve worked. I’ll try it again.” she said determinedly. Xander held up his hand to stop her.

“Will, give it up.” he said. “You’ve done the spell like ten times now.”

“Xander’s right. The spell isn’t going to work.” Anya agreed. Frustrated, Willow jumped off the table as someone knocked on the front door.

“I’ll get it!” they heard Andrew shout.

“Where’s he been hiding all night?” Willow asked, not really caring.

“He’s probably been in the bathroom masturbating.” Anya suggested. Willow held up her hand to stop Anya from saying anything else.

“I so did not need that mental picture.” she assured Anya. Anya shrugged as the kitchen door swung open. Xander jumped backwards in shock as a familiar figure strode through the door, hands in his pockets.

“We have company.” Andrew sang as he fluttered into the kitchen. Their guest looked around before speaking.

“So,” Ethan asked casually. “Is Ripper about?”

“Do you think they’ve figured out that we’re together?” Buffy asked, gesturing at the crystal with her fork. It had finally stopped glowing. Giles fed her a piece of chocolate cake.

“I wouldn’t be surprised.” he admitted, as he speared a piece of cake for himself. Giles nodded at the waiter as he slid the bill on the table. “Our friends have a way of finding out these things.” Reaching into his jacket, Giles pulled out his wallet. He selected a credit card and handed it to the waiter, who took it with a small bow. Buffy looked at Giles in horror.

“No, you’re not supposed to pay.” she protested. “I asked you out.” Buffy snatched up her purse from the table. “The person who does the asking pays.” she insisted. Buffy pulled out some money and held it out to Giles. “I have money.”

“Buffy,” Giles said, gently but firmly. “you are not paying for dinner.” He plucked the money from her fingers and put it back into her purse. “Call me old fashioned, but I was raised that a gentleman always paid for his date’s dinner.” The waiter returned with the credit card slip for Giles to sign. Giles added a generous tip and scrawled his name. “You are my date, so I’m paying for your dinner.” Buffy sighed, torn between exasperation and delight.

Standing, Giles held out his hand to Buffy. Buffy took it and allowed him to lead her from the restaurant, pausing only to pick up her overnight bag. Giles looped the strap over his shoulder, despite Buffy’s protests that she could carry it. Instead, Giles slid his hand around Buffy’s waist as they walked. Buffy reveled in the feel of his hand on her hip, as he held her tightly to his side. Dropping her head to his chest, Buffy wrapped her arm around him as they walked to his car.

“Would you like some coffee?” Giles asked as he dropped Buffy’s bag in the trunk. Buffy nodded, willing to agree to anything that would make this night last longer. She looked up at the moonlit night.

“I know I’ll regret this, but, shall we walk?” she asked. Giles gazed down at Buffy as she leaned against him. He brushed a stray strand of hair from her face as their lips met briefly.

“We shall.” Giles whispered. He linked his arm through hers and they began strolling along the sidewalk.

Wood grabbed Spike to keep him from barging out of the bushes when Buffy and Giles emerged from the restaurant.

“Do you want to get yourself staked?” he hissed at the vampire. Immediately, Wood slapped himself on the forehead. [What am I thinking?] “On second thought, maybe you should go confront them.” Wood suggested hopefully. But it was too late, Spike had realized the wisdom of Wood’s first sentence and returned to skulking in the bushes. He made sounds of disgust every time the Slayer and Watcher kissed.

“Bloody wanker.” Spike cursed as Giles’ hand slipped from Buffy’s waist to her behind and squeezed it gently. “He’s old enough to be her father.” Wood rolled his eyes, he’d had just about enough of Spike’s complaining.

“And your oh, so much younger?” Wood asked sarcastically. Spike harrumphed self-righteously, but said nothing. Silently, the duo watched Buffy and Giles walked away.

“Ethan, what are you doing here?” Willow demanded angrily. Ethan looked around the room.

“Believe it or not, looking for Ripper.” he said calmly. “Where’s he hiding himself?”

“He’s not here.” Xander said vehemently. “So, I’m afraid you won’t be able to turn him into something nasty tonight. So sorry. Guess you’ll have to leave now.” Ethan rocked on his heels, his hands still in his pockets.

“You’re sure Ripper’s not here?” he asked. Xander resisted the urge to rip fistfuls of hair from his head.

“He’s not here!” Xander all but shouted. “How many times do we have to tell you that?” Ethan considered this statement with interest.

“The locator spell I did indicated he was here.” he said thoughtfully. “Ripper must’ve performed a spell to block magic.” Willow’s face brightened.

“That would explain why the mirror spell didn’t work.” she said to Xander and Anya. Ethan raised an eyebrow as he studied the redhead.

“Why are you trying to spy on dear ol’ Rupert?” he asked curiously. “Not that I care, but it does seem a bit unlike you?” Willow leaned forward eagerly and explained to Ethan about Buffy and Giles’ date. Ethan threw back his head and laughed. “So, Ripper finally told her. Good for him.” Anya eyed Ethan suspiciously. She’d never met the man, but she’d heard enough about him to be wary.

“You knew?” Anya asked. “How did you know when we didn’t?” Ethan looked at her in disbelief.

“Really, my dear. Anyone with eyes could see how he felt about her.” Ethan took in the started faces in front of him and chuckled. “You didn’t know.” he snickered in delight.

“We knew.” Willow protested. “We just…” Willow trailed off as she looked at Xander.

“Didn’t have a clue.” Xander finished. Willow nodded miserably. Ethan sighed contentedly. He did so love being one up on people.

“We just wanted to see.” Willow said. “It’s been so long since we’ve seen Buffy or Giles happy…” Willow’s words faded. Xander and Anya nodded in agreement. Their faces were portraits of misery. Ethan sighed. It was no fun gloating with them making puppy dog faces at him.

“I’m all for spying.” he told them. “But I don’t know how we’ll find them without using a locator spell.” A thought occurred to Willow and her eyes lit up.

“I’ve got it.” she said, rushing into the other room. She returned almost instantly, her arms full of supplies. “Spike knows where Buffy and Giles are. Spike’s a demon. We can locate him.”

Spike and Wood ran from tree to tree as Buffy and Giles strolled down the street. They whirled as they heard footsteps behind them.

“Did we miss anything?” Willow asked, her hair mussed from the run over. She peered around the tree. “Oh, they’re kissing!” she squealed in excitement. Anya pushed her out of the way so she could see.

“They’ll definitely be having orgasms tonight.” she said knowingly. Ethan stared in surprise at the blonde woman, taken aback by her forthrightness. Anya turned and faced the rest of the group. “Buffy won’t need a vengeance demon anytime soon.” Wood, who had been staring at Ethan, finally spoke.

“Who are you?” he asked. Ethan stuck out his hand.

“Ethan Rayne at your service.” He inclined his head toward Giles. “An old friend of Rupert’s there.”

“Robin Wood.” Wood took Ethan’s offered hand. “I’m the principal at the high school where Buffy works.” Ethan arched an eyebrow.

“Robin Hood?” he asked, mishearing Wood’s name. Ethan looked at Willow. “Who’s she? Will Scarlet.” Ethan smirked at his own joke. Wood rolled his eyes.

“Wood, with a W.” he explained slowly. Xander stared at Ethan with undisguised dislike.

“You know, it would be worth Buffy’s wrath to drag you over there and watch them beat you up.” he told Ethan. Ethan smiled winningly.

“Ah, but you won’t dear boy, because that would mean they would know you were spying on them.” he taunted. Xander grumbled, but said nothing. He hated that Ethan was right.

“You know we’re being watched.” Buffy murmured, her cheek resting against Giles’ chest. They’d paused yet again as their mouths had searched each other out. Buffy felt as well as heard the rumble of Giles’ laughter.

“Yes, I know.” Giles rested his chin on Buffy’s head. “They’ve been there for awhile.” Buffy nodded, sighing.

“Now what?” she asked, tilting her head back so that she could look into Giles’ eyes. Giles smiled wickedly.

“Obscurus.” he muttered.

“Huh?” Buffy looked at him in confusion. “Ok, as far as answers goes, that’s a little bizarre.” Giles put his finger to his lips, shushing her.

“We don’t have much time. The invisibility spell will wear off shortly.” he told her. Buffy smothered a laugh with her hand.

“I love it when you go all Gandalf.” Hand in hand, the couple moved swiftly down the street, hidden from the view of anyone who was watching.

“Bloody hell!” Spike cursed, as Buffy and Giles blinked out of view. Ethan looked over Spike’s shoulder with interest.

“He’s using magic.” he said in surprise. Ethan turned to Willow, who was frowning at the spot where Buffy and Giles had been. “He never uses magic any more.” Ethan looked distinctly uncomfortable, much to Xander’s delight. [Blocking spells was one thing, but if Ripper was actively practicing magic…] Ethan swallowed audibly, not wanting to think of the possible consequences. “Yes, well, I must be off…” he began.

“Oh, no.” Spike said, grabbing his arm. “You’re bloody well going to help me find them and put an end to this.” he hissed. Xander began patting down his pockets.

“I know I have a stake here somewhere.” he muttered to himself. Willow swatted his shoulder.

“You can’t stake him while he has a soul.” she pointed out.

“Watch me.” Xander retorted. Spike gave Xander a two fingered salute, which Xander returned with the one fingered American version. Ignoring this exchange, Ethan shook his head at Spike.

“There is no way I’m going up against Ripper if he’s using magic again. You’d be better off forgetting about Buffy and moving on.” Ethan advised. “I’d only dropped by to cause some chaos before moving on.” he continued. “But I don’t need the kind of trouble that would come from trying to get between Ripper and his Slayer.”

“Fine.” Spike said, disgust coloring his voice. “I’ll do this on my own.” He stalked off into the night, leaving the group behind.

“Let him go.” Xander said when Wood moved to follow. Wood looked at him questioningly. “Let’s just hope he does something stupid and Buffy stakes him.” Wood nodded, realizing that his window of opportunity had closed.

The invisibility spell wore off just before Giles and Buffy reached the Espresso Pump. Buffy giggled as they walked into the coffee shop.

“I didn’t know you could do that.” she said pointedly as they carried their coffee to a relatively secluded table. “Do you know how useful that would be for Slaying?” Giles shook his head, sipping at his espresso.

“It’s a difficult spell to maintain.” he told her. “It was hard enough to concentrate with you touching me, let alone while fighting.”

“Do I distract you, Giles?” Buffy said, delighted. She placed her hand on his knee, sliding it up his leg. Giles glowered at her.

“You know you do.” he said, catching her hand before it reached it’s goal. Buffy pouted as he brought it to his lips and kissed her fingers.

“Tell me.” she whispered insistently, leaning forward. “Tell me how much I distract you.” Giles bent his head closer, lowering his voice so only Buffy could hear.

“When I’m near you, the scent of your perfume all but drives me mad. All I can think about is how soft your skin looks and wonder how it would feel under my hands, my mouth.” Buffy’s breath came in ragged gasps as Giles murmured in her ear. “I wonder if you’ll scream when I’m inside you, if you’ll be as uninhibited in my bed as you are out of it.” Warmth pooled between Buffy’s legs as Giles spoke. She crossed her legs, trying to relieve some of the pressure. Giles smiled as he saw her shift. He ran his free hand up the outside of her thigh. “And I wonder if I distract you as much as you distract me.”

“Yes.” Buffy whispered, the word out of her mouth before she could stop it. She stared at Giles, the words he spoke creating vivid images in her mind. “Giles, I…” Loud laughter from another table broke the spell that seemed to surround them. Buffy glanced over that the other table. “I don’t think this is the place for this discussion.” she murmured, a blush coloring her cheeks. Buffy reached for her latte, taking a hasty sip. [Oh, real sexy.] Buffy thought as she realized she’d gotten a dollop of whipped crème on her nose. Chagrined, she reached for her napkin. Giles’ hand covered her.

“Let me.” he whispered. His tongue darted out, scooping the crème from her nose.

“Oh God.” Buffy moaned. “We need to leave, Giles.” she told him, her voice somewhat desperate. Giles sat back, a smile on his face.

“If you wish.” he said calmly, standing. Giles was amazed at how even his voice was considering just how urgently he wanted Buffy. Buffy swiped at her nose with a napkin to get any whipped crème he might have missed before she stood. Giles put his hand on her elbow as they left their barely touched coffee on the table as they hurried from the shop.

Outside, Buffy turned and pulled Giles into a hard kiss. Giles could taste the want and need on her lips. He returned the kiss, telegraphing how much he wanted her back.

“I need you.” she whispered fiercely, pulling away from his lips. “Alone.”

Giles nodded, unable to believe that Buffy had just announced that she desired him. He grabbed her hand and began to drag Buffy back to his car. Years of fighting in high heels made it easy for Buffy to keep up with the fast pace Giles set.

Spike looked up as his sensitive ears picked up the sounds of hurried footsteps. He’d staked out the car, knowing that sooner or later they’d have to return for it. Buffy and Giles came into view, walking quickly. Spike swore as he smelled the scent of arousal. From both of them. [Damn!] Spike cursed. He briefly considered trying to stop Buffy from getting into the car, but changed his mind. Spike knew that doing that would only lead to the pointed end of a stake. Sighing as the car sped out of sight, Spike stood and walked back to the house, his head hanging in defeat.

“Can’t you drive faster?” Buffy demanded, her hand trailing up Giles’ leg. This time, he didn’t stop her and Buffy caressed the bulge in his pants.

“If I drive any faster, we’ll end up dead before we make it to the hotel.” Buffy giggled. Only Giles could sound so annoyed and turned on at the same time. Her eyes widened in surprise as he pulled into the hotel parking lot.

“You got a room here?” she asked in disbelief. Climbing from the car before he could come around, Buffy stared up at the building in awe. “Giles, this place is hugely expensive.” Giles put his arm around her waist, her bag over his shoulder.

“Nothing’s too good for my girl.” Giles whispered in her ear. Buffy turned to look at him in surprise at his words.

“Am I?” she whispered. “Your girl?” she clarified. Giles nodded.

“Always.” he swore, not sure why Buffy had tensed. Buffy threw herself at him.

“Promise?” she asked, her voice pleading. Giles nodded.

“You’ll always be my Buffy.” he promised, dropping a kiss on her nose. They walked through the lobby of the five star hotel, Buffy’s eyes wide as she tried to take it all in, the serious moment forgotten.

“Wow, Giles.” Buffy breathed as they stood on the elevator. Giles gave her a smile, squeezing her hand gently. They stepped off on the top floor, Giles leading Buffy to a room at the end of a quiet hallway.

“Incendo.” he muttered as they entered the room. Instantly, the room was lit by the myriad of candles he’d set around the room burst into flame. Buffy stood in awe. Slowly she turned to face Giles, who was watching her reaction.

“You did this for me?” she asked. Giles nodded. Swallowing, Buffy reached out and took her bag from Giles shoulder. “Stay here, I’ll be right back.” Backing away, Buffy turned and dashed into the bathroom.

Giles watched as Buffy moved away, his thoughts whirling. Slipping out of his jacket, Giles dropped it on a chair as he went to the miniature refrigerator next to the television. The bottle made a soft popping sound as he opened it, pouring the pale liquid into crystal glasses. Hearing a door open behind him, Giles turned and was immediately grateful that he hadn’t been holding the glasses.

Buffy stood before him, dressed in a black silk gown. She’d brushed out her hair so that it tumbled over her shoulders. Candlelight glimmered off her blonde tresses. Buffy shifted nervously as Giles stared at her wordlessly.

“Giles, say something.” she demanded nervously.

“My God, you’re beautiful, Buffy.” Giles declared breathlessly, finally finding his voice. Buffy dropped her head, suddenly bashful. Giles swiftly snatched up the champagne glasses and handed one to her. Buffy took it and sipped at the sweet liquid, looking up at Giles over the rim.

“You’re wearing suspenders.” she whispered, reaching out to touch the elastic bands. Giles looked down in surprise. “Do you know how attractive I found these in high school?” she asked.

“Really? I’ll have to remember that.” he murmured, moving closer. He touched her hair lightly. Buffy looked up at his touch. Giles couldn’t resist the unspoken plea in her eyes. Taking the champagne flute from her hand, Giles set both down on the table. Reaching up, he took off his glasses, and tossed them next to the flutes.

Buffy melted as Giles’ lips covered hers, gripping his shirt to remain standing. She shivered as his hands trailed lightly up her arms to her shoulders, caressing her skin.

“Do you think they’re having orgasms yet?” Anya asked, taking the bowl of popcorn Andrew had brought her. Dressed in an apron and oven mitts, Andrew scurried back to the kitchen. Xander and Willow had decided to take some of the potentials and do a quick sweep of the cemeteries in Buffy’s absence. Ethan reached over and took a handful of popcorn.

“Oh, I would imagine they are by now.” he assured her. Anya nodded in satisfaction.

“Good. Giles won’t scorn her. Buffy will be happy and maybe she’ll stop giving those long, boring “We’re all going to die” speeches.” Anya looked at Ethan and sighed. “I don’t suppose you’re any good at giving orgasms, are you?” Ethan choked on his popcorn and started coughing. Anya gave him a sharp slap on the back.

“Excuse me?” He coughed.

“It’s ok if you aren’t, being old and all. But I figure that if Giles can give Buffy orgasms, you should be up to it as well.”

“Are you asking me to have sex with you?” Ethan asked in disbelief. Anya crossed her arms, huffing.

“Fine. If you don’t want to.” she muttered.

“No, no, no.” Ethan said quickly. “I just wanted to make sure I was clear on your intentions before I said yes.” Ethan reached over and grabbed Anya’s hand, pulling her to her feet. “Let’s go before the others get back.”

Buffy moaned under Giles’ ministrations. She’d been right, Giles had appreciated the silk nightgown. He was, in fact, still appreciating it. Buffy gasped for breath as Giles caressed her through the silk, his body pressing her into the mattress.

“I love you so much.” Buffy whispered in his ear as his mouth nuzzled at her neck. Giles lifted his head to look Buffy in the eye.

“And I you.” he told her. Buffy smiled and with one swift move, flipped Giles onto his back.

“Enough teasing.” Buffy said, unzipping Giles’ pants and tugging them down his legs. Giles tugged off his shirt and tie, tossing them to the side as Buffy slid her hands over his skin unimpeded. “I would’ve never guessed you for the type to go commando.” she teased, her hand caressing his erection. Giles bucked his hips against her touch.

“Night stand.” Giles groaned, reaching out to the small table. Buffy picked up the small packet and held it up for him to see.

“Is this what you’re looking for?” Buffy taunted, waving the condom packet at him. Lifting his hand, Giles grasped for the packet, but Buffy snatched it from his reach.

“Let me.” she whispered, ripping open the foil. Carefully, Buffy rolled the condom onto his cock. Giles gave a breathless laugh at the look of concentration on her face.

“God, Buffy, you’re killing me.” he laughed. Buffy gave him a sultry smile, giving the tip of his erection a kiss. Hitching up the silk gown, Buffy straddled Giles’ hips. Giles hissed with pleasure as Buffy reached down to guide him into her.

Sliding his hands over her silk covered skin, Giles grabbed her hips as she began to ride him. Buffy threw back her head in pleasure as Giles thrust deep into her. The room was filled with the sounds of their coupling, of whispered endearments and sounds of pleasure.

Buffy dropped her head to Giles’ forehead as her climax ripped through her. She felt him thrust and tense beneath her. Kissing him hard, Buffy swallowed Giles’ shout of release as he came.

“God, that was amazing!” Buffy gasped, collapsing on to Giles. Giles rolled Buffy underneath him, divesting himself of the used condom and tossing it into the trash. “Can we do it again?”

Buffy opened the front door silently, popping her head through the opening to look both directions.

“Coast is clear.” she whispered, gesturing to Giles to follow her. Giles slipped into the house behind her, shutting the door quietly as Buffy crept up the stairs.

“There you are.” a voice said behind him. Giles jumped, clutching at his chest.

“Good Lord, Dawn.” he chastised, whirling to face the girl. “Are you trying to give me a heart attack?” Dawn blew on the mug of hot chocolate she held as she considered Giles thoughtfully.

“What are your intentions?” she asked, her head cocked. Giles looked at the girl in confusion.

“My intentions?” he repeated. Dawn nodded.

“For Buffy.” Dawn clarified. Giles’ mind raced.

“My intentions toward Buffy?” he repeated, trying to buy himself some time. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” he lied. Dawn rolled her eyes, a typical teenage response.

“Please, Giles. How stupid do you think I am?” she asked him. Giles raised his eye brow at her.

“Do you really want me to answer that?” he teased. Dawn grinned.

“Seriously, Giles.” Dawn started. Giles held up his hand to stop her. He took off his glasses and pinched the bridge of his nose as he thought.

“Leave Giles alone, Dawn.” Buffy’s voice floated down from the top of the stairs. Giles turned as Buffy came down the stairs, his eyes lighting as she came into view. Dawn watched Giles, smiling into her mug of cocoa.

“How did you know?” Buffy asked, linking her arm through Giles’.

“Please, I actually pay attention to what goes on around here.” Dawn informed her drolly. “I saw this coming from a mile away.” Buffy smiled at her little sister.

“Is that Buffy?” Willow called, running toward the door. Skidding to a halt, Willow flipped her hair out of her eyes. “Oh, yes. Hi Buffy. Hi Giles” she said, waggling her fingers at them. In her other hand, she held some marshmallow that she popped into her mouth occasionally. Giles groaned with embarrassment. Standing on tiptoe, Buffy pressed a kiss to his blushing cheek. “Xander!” Willow yelled up the stairs. “Buffy and Giles are back!”

“Oh dear Lord.” Giles groaned as thundering footsteps echoed from above.

“G-man! You and the Buffster are home!” Xander declared, trundling down the stairs, a mob of potential Slayers close behind him.

“Oh, by the way.” Dawn said casually. “Maybe I should mention that everyone knew you guys were out on a date last night.”

“So, did you have a good time?” Willow asked eagerly.

“You’re, like, together now, right?” Xander asked. “Can I tell Spike you’re officially a couple? Please?”

Dawn smirked as questions were hurled at her sister and her Watcher. Giles was whole heartedly embarrassed by the attention, but Buffy took it in stride. Holding up a hand, Buffy stopped all questions.

“Yes, we had a great time. Yes, Giles and I are officially a couple. I will tell Spike.” she said, much to Xander’s disappointment.

“Damn.” Xander hissed. Buffy shot him a quelling look.

“Actually, Spike already knows.” Willow offered timidly. Willow cleared her throat. “We, ah, well, we…”

“They spied on you.” Dawn finished. “I heard them talking about it last night when I got home from Janice’s.” Willow tossed the remainder of her marshmallows at Dawn’s head.

“Thanks, just rat me out.” Willow snapped. Buffy just waved off her concern.

“We knew.” she assured them. The rattle of the door knob turning drew everyone’s attention. Anya entered the house, a dreamy look on her face.

“Oh, you’re back.” she said upon seeing Giles and Buffy. Anya patted Buffy’s arm. “I’m sure Giles gave you lots of orgasms last night.” she said. “I figure he’s at least as good as Ethan.” Everyone stared in silence as Anya walked away, still floating on cloud nine.

“Ok, that I didn’t see coming.” Dawn muttered. Buffy shook her head.

“That’s just disturbing on so many levels.” she muttered.

“I have to say that I agree with you on that.” Giles said. Buffy smiled up at him.

“C’mon, big guy. Since everybody knows about us already, maybe we could go upstairs and get some sleep.” Buffy suggested.

“Oh, like we believe that there’ll be actual sleep going on.” Xander teased. Giles fixed him with a stare, and Xander held up his hands in defense. “Didn’t say anything.” Buffy led Giles up to her room, shutting the door behind her.

“Alone at last.” she murmured turning into his arms. “Again.” Giles kissed her softly, smiling.

“Probably our last chance to be alone for awhile.” he murmured, nudging Buffy backwards until she collapsed on the bed. “We should probably take advantage of it while we can.” Buffy nodded, holding him tightly to her.

“You’re probably right.” she said. Gently, she took Giles’ glasses off and laid them on the night table, next to her lamp. Snuggling close, Buffy laid her cheek on his chest. Within minutes, they were both sound asleep, unaware of the closet door opening and a very disappointed vampire sneaking out of the room.

End.
