To make Rosy Beefy Noodle Twosome

 

You will need:

• One (1) can Condensed 10.75 oz Campbell's* Tomato Soup

• One (1) can Condensed 10.75 oz Campbell's Beef Noodle Soup

• One (1) two (2) quart pot

• Water

• One (1) can opener

 

Using your can opener, open first the tomato soup, and then the beef noodle. Set the beef noodle aside.

Step One: Pour the tomato soup into the pot, using a spoon or knife to make sure the entire contents of the can have been emptied into the pot. Using the same can, measure out one can of water, and pour water into the pot. Set can aside.

Step Two: Pour your beef noodle soup into the pot, using a spoon to make sure the entire contents of the can have been emptied into the pot. Using the same can, measure out one can of water, and pour water into the pot. Set can aside.

Step Three: With a large, long-handled spoon, stir contents of pot slowly until soups and water are well mixed.

Step Four: Place pot on stove.

Step Five: Turn heat to medium under pot.

Step Six: Slowly stir contents of pot until liquid boils. Do NOT overcook! You risk burning the delicate noodles and tomato base of your meal.

Step Seven: Remove pot from heat and let cool two minutes. Serve hot.

Serves two to three (2-3) people.


*Substituting soup brands will affect the taste of your meal.

Allow me to explain.

When my mother was in high school, every girl was required to take Home Economics (as was the standard of the time). My mother took this class for a full semester. However...

There was a girl in the class who was preparing for a national pie baking contest (yes. Really.) and the teacher was helping her get ready. Therefore, the teacher had no real time to instruct the rest of the class.

So, for the cooking portion of the class...my mother and her classmates were taught to make Rosy Beefy Noodle Twosome.

When my grandmother found out what they were making, she laughed so hard, her face turned red.

I have since attempted to find a record of this odd meal anywhere else on the web, but alas, the closest thing I have found was an old Andy Warhol image of Campbell's Tomato-Beef Noodle O's, which I assume is of a product no longer on the market.

This was disappointing! Surely the students of Niles East high school, Skokie Ill. were not the only people on earth ever taught to make this in a formal classroom!

Heh. Gotta love small town high schools...

Anyway, when I realized the extent to which this teacher was blowing it out her rear, I decided that this page had to be created, to preserve for all time this complete lunacy.

So I give you, a formal recipe (on which my mother had to take a TEST - an honest-to-god TEST, for crying out loud) for Rosy Beefy Noodle Twosome.
