### BOSSES ### A comprehensive Guide. Guide by Darkwolf and TrinityLast Also see our Quest Guide: http://www.trinitylast.com/Quests.txt And a sneak peak of the upcoming website: http://www.trinitylast.com/SiteSneakPeak.txt !!!!!This was GOING to be put up on a website! It still is. I'm in finals right now. Patience, Grasshopper!!!!! (NOTE: List was made during the game play, which means the headers are by TL. The instructions are by Darkwolf, because TL got fed up with typing and so made him doe it himself rather than dictate to her while he played it. Note written by phantom.) (NOTE2: watch for a scattering of questionable words during those occasions when it was 4AM and I wasn't quite there.) Juppie Monster Active Item - Red Juppie Active Character - Tor PROPER MOTES FOR BATTLE: Sword = Air Aligned Mote (fog/wind) Armor = Earth Aligned Mote (leaf/rock) Shield = Earth Aligned Mote (leaf/rock) When the fight starts, the Monster will go underground, leaving a root-like tentacle to attack you. Kill the tentacle with a couple of well placed swipes with your sword. (Note: Takes longer with Wooden Sword than Squire’s Sword, but it CAN BE DONE). When the tentacle dies, a giant Juppie will fall from the ceiling, and the monster will reappear. Run over and stand near (or on top of) the giant Juppie on the ground. Watch the monster. It will rear it’s head back. JUMP AWAY from the giant Juppie, and the monster will slam it’s head down, crushing the Juppie and stunning itself. This is your moment to attack it’s “neck” vine. Note: If the monster slams it’s head down and doesn’t hit a giant Juppie, it will raise right back up again without being stunned, and you won’t be able to hurt it. Make sure it smashes a Juppie every time. After you’ve hit it a few times, it will rear back and disappear underground again, and send more tentacles at you. The most there will ever be at once is three tentacles, and you must kill all of them for the monster to reappear and give you another shot at it. Eventually, it will go down. Congratulations, you’ve freed Lucy! _______________________________________________________________ Ixi Raider Chieftain Active Item - Red Juppie Active Character - Tor PROPER MOTES FOR BATTLE: Sword = Water Aligned Mote (bubble/water) Armor = Fire Aligned Mote (fire/lava) Shield = Fire Aligned Mote (fire/lava) One of the easiest bosses in the game, actually. Which is good, considering that it’s only your second boss. ;) When the fight starts, the Chieftain will send two Ixi Raider Henchmen after you. After all of these you’ve taken out on the way up here, this should be easy. Just kill them. Now the big guy himself will jump into the fight. It’s pretty straightforward, though. Dodge his attacks as best you can, eat when you get hit, and just keep wailing away at him with your sword. The 3-Point-Strike and 360-Attack work well in this fight. He’ll go down eventually. Note: Make SURE you pick up his eye patch (left in the middle of the arena after he dies) before leaving the arena. The Cogham Mayor needs this as proof that he’s been defeated. _______________________________________________________________ Gnarfas Active Item - Speckled Negg Active Character - Tor PROPER MOTES FOR BATTLE: Sword = Water Aligned Mote (recommend Water Mote) Armor = Fire Aligned Mote (recommend Fire Mote) Shield = Fire Aligned Mote (recommend Fire Mote) Welcome to your first ANNOYING Boss Battle. Gnarfas is a four-armed Werelupe with a passion for chains and a seriously bad attitude. Let him hit you once or twice to trigger a cinematic, then go into the fight proper. Run in a circle and try to keep him in sight. Occasionally do a 360 Attack and move backwards toward him so he’ll stop and swing his chains a bit. When he does that, he gets tired. When he hangs his head, run up and hit him a few times with your 3-Point-Strike. Eventually, he WILL go down, but he takes awhile and is quite annoying. For your sake, I hope you picked up the Squire’s Sword awhile ago in Meridell. My first game, I did this fight with the Wooden Sword and it took the better part of half an hour (it CAN be done, though), I don’t recommend that. _______________________________________________________________ Three Sisters Active Item - Red Juppie Active Character - Tor (you may be noticing a pattern here...Roberta isn't here yet.) PROPER MOTES FOR (psudo-)BATTLE Sword = NONE (you can’t hit them anyway) Armor = Dark Aligned Mote (smoke/shadow) Shield = Dark Aligned Mote (smoke/shadow) This is not really a Boss Battle, per say, considering that you don’t do any battling… You just run away. If you try to hit the sisters at all, you’ll notice that your sword bounces off of them. They’re currently invincible. Don’t worry, you’ll fix that before facing them in Act 3, but for now, let’s just get OUT of here! Stand near the pillars in the room and try to keep the pillars between you and the faeries. Eventually, a pillar will fall and break down the door, letting you into the main hall. GO! Uh oh, walls of fire have sprung up, blocking your only exit! Not to worry, Tor is resourceful. Stand behind the middle pillar on the left side of the room (facing the room from the way you came in). The faeries will destroy it, but it will fall and give you a ramp allowing you to run up it to the second floor. Go! Turn right once you’re over the railing, and jump back down to the first floor on the OTHER side of the wall of flames. RUN! Ack! More fire! But you’ve probably got this down now. Let the faeries break the pillar that’s the closest to where you came in, on your left. It will make a ramp that will allow you to jump that flame wall. Make a run for the dining hall! Whoa! Flying tables. The Faeries have locked you in! Not to worry. Run to the side of the room opposite where you entered, and stand near the pillar on the right hand side of that wall. A stray shot will blast a hole in the door in front of you and black smoke will pour out. Do your best to see through it, and go through that hole in the wall. Turn left and get into the hall. Quick! Run into the room where you caught the Miamice a lifetime ago. A cinematic will take over, and Servant Faun will help you escape. Congratulations, you’ve beaten Act 1! There are no bosses in Act 2, though there’s yet another fun escape. Thankfully, THAT one basically walks you through itself. See our FAQ if you happen to get stuck on the Endless Staircase. _______________________________________________________________ Kasstriliss (Plague Serpent) Active Item - Bagguss Active Character - Tor PROPER MOTES FOR BATTLE: Sword = Air Aligned Mote (fog/wind) Armor = Earth Aligned Mote (leaf/rock) Shield = Earth Aligned Mote (leaf/rock), or No Mote Welcome to the first Boss Battle of the third Act. You’ll be having a lot of these, so better get used to them. This one is relatively straightforward, however. Climb up onto the Stonehenge-like circle of pillars and make your way around until you’re standing on what seems to be the highest one. Stand there. The Boss will rear up either in front of you or behind you. Turn to face him if you aren’t already. If he moves his head to one side, he is preparing to spray poison. Jump to the pillar opposite the way he moved his head (IE, he moves his head right, you jump to the pillar on your left, and vice versa). If he hisses and rears his head back, PUT UP YOUR SHEILD! He’ll bounce off it, stunned, and fall to the ground. Jump off the pillar and slash while in mid air, so your sword comes down on his head. You only have to do this four times to beat him. IMPORTANT NOTES: 1. And I can’t stress this enough, do NOT put up your shield unless he hisses and moves to strike. If you just stand there and hold your shield up, he will just continually spray poison and never go to strike. 2. It is not required that you have a mote on your shield in order to win this fight. In fact, I recommend you don’t mote at all for this battle. It’s dark, and the shiny mote sparkles can make it hard to see if he’s going to strike or spray. 3. After you’ve hit him twice, he adds another attack to his fighting style: a freezing hypnosis attack. I never have much luck avoiding this one, but you can try. Just be ready for it. The freeze only lasts until he hits you. When you beat him, you’ll get a cinematic explaining why all these big monsters exist and why you need to kill them. Have fun! _______________________________________________________________ Dark Ixi Raider Chieftain Active Item - Red Juppie Active Character - Tor PROPER MOTES FOR BATTLE: Sword = Water Mote Armor = Fire Mote Shield = Fire Mote Not this guy again… Oh well. He’s just as easy as last time, despite his fancy new moves with that staff of his. The fire motes on your armor and shield will protect you pretty well. Just keep hacking away at him with your sword in 3-Point-Strikes. He’ll go down in no time at all. Yeah… that’s basically it. Once you beat him, hop your way across the large rocks to the rock underneath Mayor Jurgin’s cage. The cage will lower automatically. You did it! _______________________________________________________________ Werelupe King Active Item - Silver Negg Active Character - Tor PROPER MOTES FOR BATTLE: Sword = Water Mote Armor = Fire Aligned Mote (fire/lava) Shield = Fire Aligned Mote (fire/lava) Assuming you made it through the incredibly annoying Werelupe Burrows in one piece, your reward is MY personally favorite two cinematics in the entire game: The Werelupe King Battle. For all his bluster and snarl, he’s actually pretty easy. Trust me, I know… Thanks to my being stupid and forgetting to save after the battle, then going for a jump that I was unsure of and dying, I had to fight him three times in a row the last run through the game. Despite, I might add, the fact that my wife KNEW I couldn’t make that jump, and told me so every time. Here’s the real trick to the King. His biggest problem is that he’s INCREDIBLY fast, and you can lose him easily. Here’s what you need to do to slow him down a bit: POWER ATTACK with the Water Mote on your sword. It puts a slow down on him that will give you a better chance of hitting him. Just keep whaling away at him with a combination of your 3-Point-Strike, 360 Attack, and Sword Thrust, eat some Silver Neggs when you need to, and he’ll go down easily… It just takes a little while to whittle down his health. Note: His health goes down in quarters. For every quarter of his health you whack away, you’ll get a few seconds with him saying something ‘rawr’-y. Keep it up and you’ll get to see my favorite cinematic in the whole game… ”Aooowwwwwoooooooo-“ *thunk*”” Have fun! _______________________________________________________________ Juppie Monster (yes. Again) Active Item - Red Juppie Active Character - Both Tor & Roberta PROPER MOTES FOR BATTLE: Sword & Wand = Air Aligned Motes (fog/wind) Armor & Robes = Earth Aligned Motes (leaf/rock) Shields = Earth Aligned Motes (leaf/rock) Whoa… What kind of fertilizer have they been using in Shadowglen Woods? The plants in here are just crazy. And look! There’s another creepy giant Juppie Monster. This time complete with ugly looking thorns. Don’t worry, though. He’s just as easy as last time, if not easier, now that you have Roberta. Start off with Tor, and kill the tentacles as usual, causing the Giant Juppies to fall. Whoo. Switch to Roberta when the monster comes out of the ground. Same old drill. Stand near or on top of one of the Juppies until the monster goes to attack. (Note: He also spits some sort of poison/acid/something from time to time. Just run around to avoid it, or take the damage. They don’t hurt much.) When the Monster smashes a Juppie this time, it will rear back instead of being stunned… but it’s head will drop and it will pant with it’s mouth open. RAPID FIRE, Roberta! Shoot that ugly plant beast! The shots will home in on the mouth and go inside. When the shots start bouncing OFF the monster, it’s time to switch to Tor for another round of the Tentacle Attack Game. Keep it up. This guy’ll be dead in no time flat. Maybe it’s time the farmers stopped using Miracle-Gro. _______________________________________________________________ Gelert Assassin Active Item - Silver Negg Active Character - 1st ½-Tor 2 ½- Roberta PROPER MOTES FOR BATTLE: Sword & Wand = Light Aligned Motes (light/sun) Armor & Robes = Dark Aligned Motes (smoke/shadow) Shields = Dark Aligned Motes (smoke/shadow) FINALLY, we get to get rid of this guy. Thank GOD. I’d gotten pretty sick of him popping up and bothering us, hadn’t you? The Assassin is a skilled fighter, though, so this fight is going to take some skill to beat him. Start off with Tor. When the Assassin charges you or tosses daggers at you, put up your shield to either deflect the daggers back at him, or to make him bounce off your shield. If he bounces off your shield, go ahead and slash him with the sword. This fight takes awhile because you never seem to be able to hit him more than once for every time he attacks you. He’s better at dodging than you are, but you’re stronger than him. If you can get close enough to him, try doing a power attack or two with the mote on your sword. Eventually, his health will be down about half way (the assassin, like the Werelupe King, goes down in quarters, with a pithy comment for every fourth you take him down). Now he’s going to be moving too fast for Tor to really get any hits in. It’s time to switch to Roberta. Rapid fire with Roberta. The shots will home in on him. Sometimes he will bounce your attacks back at you. Put up your shield spell and send them right back at him. He very rarely blocks them twice. Run around and try not to stay in one place, as the Assassin will be moving around a lot as well. Keep shielding when he throws daggers, and rapid fire at all other times. Eat when and if you need to, in order to heal and replenish magic. Once his health is down almost all the way, he will surrender the fight to you and leave. You never see him again. Congratulations! _______________________________________________________________ Black Knight Active Item - Silver Negg Active Character - Tor PROPER MOTES FOR BATTLE: Sword = Light Aligned Mote (light/sun Sun recommended) Armor = Dark Aligned Mote (smoke/shadow) Shield = Dark Aligned Mote (smoke/shadow) This guy is incredibly sure of himself, and rather creepy looking. But don’t worry, with my help, you’ll have him reduced to a pile of empty armor in no time. Run circles around him, but don’t get to close. Let him swing at you and miss. Notice another thing this guy is? That’s right… He’s easily frustrated. It’s kind of funny to watch, actually. Whatever you do, don’t run up on the balconies, or far enough away from him that he starts shooting his sword at you. You want him to use his close range attacks so he gets angrier faster. Eventually, he will do one of three things: 1. Slam himself down onto the floor because he’s dizzy. When he does this, either his stomach, or the back of his neck will be flashing purple. HIT HIM THERE with your sword as hard as you can and as many times as you can before he gets up. 2. Get his sword stuck in the chandelier out of frustration. In this case, it will be the joint where one of his arms connects to his shoulder that will be flashing purple. Again, HIT HIM THERE with your sword as hard as you can and as many times as you can before he gets un-stuck. 3. Stand still and pant (or get his sword stuck in the floor, I can never tell what’s actually going on in this case). The back of his neck will be flashing. And once again, HIT HIM THERE with your sword as hard as you can and as many times as you can before he recovers/gets unstuck. (Note: Upon the third possibility for attack, you must jump slash him as Tor to hit the vulnerable point. Some people find it easier to switch to Roberta and rapid fire at him, using a light aligned mote. I don’t do this, personally, but I wanted to include it in case you want to try it. ? ) _______________________________________________________________ Undead Draik Active Item - Striped Negg Active Character - Tor PROPER MOTES FOR BATTLE: Sword = Nova Mote Armor = Nova Mote Shield = Nova Mote My wife’s favorite line in any cinematic comes before this fight. “Aren’t skeletons supposed to be dead?!” And yes, they ARE supposed to be dead. Why don’t we fix that, shall we? Yeah, I know, he’s big. I know, he’s scary. But you know what else? He can’t take his own fire and ice blasts. This is where a good command of the camera control (right analog stick) comes in VERY handy. You need to be able to run around this Draik WITHOUT losing sight of his chest. That’s right, his CHEST. Watch him closely as you run for your life. Eventually, his chest will glow red or blue. When this happens, STOP RUNNING, and turn to face him with your shield up QUICKLY. He will blast you with fire (red glow) or ice (blue glow), but because your shield and armor are Nova Moted, they’ll just bounce right back at him. Quick, run up and slash, whack, and slash again at his legs. You can usually hit him three or four times before he recovers. Once he does, start running and start the process all over again. A third of the way through the fight, he’ll lose his legs. Yeah… He’s coming after you dragging his rib cage with his arms now. But he still has a chest, so just keep doing the same thing. After another third, he’ll just have to get ahead. Sorry, I couldn’t resist the pun. Yeah, now all he is, is a Draik HEAD, bouncing around and trying to bite you. He doesn’t have a chest to watch now, but that’s fine, because his invincibility is gone. Keep hacking away at his head and soon he’ll just be an annoying memory. The Meridell Treasure Vault and everything in it (including, finally, Fyora’s Rod) is yours! _______________________________________________________________ Three Sisters Active Item - Silver Negg Active Character - Roberta PROPER MOTES FOR BATTLE: Wand = Nova Mote Robes = Nova Mote Shield = Nova Mote Finally, a battle in which Roberta has to go it alone. Let’s see what this Rod we went all the way down under the castle to get can do! Fire off a few shots to trigger a cinematic that will tell you that the Rod has removed the Faerie Sister’s invulnerability. Whoop-de-do. Now we can get rid of Vanity, Malice, and Spite once and for all. The reason you’re wearing Nova Motes on everything for this fight, is that the sisters are Dark Faeries, but they’re rainbow aligned for some reason. One primarily shoots earth attacks (which can poison you), another primarily shoots dark attacks (that annoying dark cloud that can make it hard to see), and the other primarily shoots fire at you (ack! You’re on fire again! It gets kind of boring after awhile, though, doesn’t it?) The Nova Motes provide the maximum protection during this fight, and also allow you to do the maximum damage to the sisters. Stay in the middle of the room. The sisters move around a lot and you can lose them if you don’t stay in the middle of the room. Keep rapid firing at the sisters. Try to focus on one at a time, and relax. If you’ve been following our Guide and have been doing all the side quests, your health and magic bars are plenty big enough to handle anything the sisters throw at you. Eat when you need to, throw in a power attack here and there, but mostly just keep rapid firing at them. You win, and Meridell is freed! (Finally.) Once again, there are no more bosses before the end of the act, but you WILL have to do something Boss- like when in Faerieland before the end of this act. Queen Fyora will be shouting instructions to you. Just follow them, and you’ll get to go to Altador, and the fourth Act. I’ll see you again for the Darkest Faerie Battle… Good luck in Altador. _______________________________________________________________ Darkest Faerie Active Item - Any Kind of Negg Active Character - First Tor & then Roberta (don't worry, the game does it for you) PROPER MOTES FOR BATTLE: Sword & Wand = SUPERNOVA Mote Armor & Robes = SUPERNOVA Mote Shields = SUPERNOVA Motes Congratulations on making it this far! You’re here in Faerieland to take out the Darkest Faerie. You’ve got Jerdana’s Orb, you’re armored to the teeth, moted up, and ready to go. But wait! What’s this? The Darkest Faerie is causing Faerieland to FALL! Meridell is down there! Brightvale is down there! Your homes! Your families! What are you going to do! You have three minutes to take out the Darkest Faerie before all of Meridell and Faerieland are destroyed in one fell swoop. But don’t worry, I’m here to help you. And believe it or not, the Darkest Faerie is the easiest boss in the game. You start out as Tor. Much like Kasstraliss (Plague Serpent), all that long time ago at the beginning of the third Act, whatever you do, DON’T PUT UP YOUR SHEILD! Wait for the Darkest Faerie to shoot at you, then put up your shield. If it’s a minion, kill it with a quick sword swipe. But otherwise, her attack will bounce back and stun her. Run up and jump/slash her. She’ll push you away. Repeat up to four times, and the game will force you to switch to Roberta. Roberta, your mission, should you choose to accept it, is… Oh, who are we kidding? You HAVE to accept the mission. It’s the reason you’re here! That being said, rapid fire to take out all the aerial minions congregating around you. Where’d the Faerie go? Don’t worry. She’s up in the air, directly over where she was standing when you were fighting with Tor. Shoot rapid fire at her, and she’ll drop down to the ground, stunned. Now, here’s the big thing you have to do to win the game. Are you ready for this? Are you really ready for this? Okay, here it is! Run up to her. What? You were expecting something big and complicated? Nope. Just run up to her. A cinematic will take over, and you’ve won! Congratulations, you’ve beaten the game. Now have some fun running around in Faerieland and talking to all the people you rescued (including the Altadorian Legends, if you run back to the landing platform where you started Act 2). Talk to Fyora after speaking with the Legends to see what became of the Darkest Faerie in the final cinematic. Enjoy the credits. You beat the game!
